Morning Jersey man,

Rotten luck having to use a crutch but for your own good better upright than flat on your face. Do you also have Fybro or just arthritis. I just well I have both and it can be very horrid.

You are welcome anyway to the site we are a cheerful lot who care a lot and someone is always about with information, encouragement , and tips of where to find out about benefits or assessments.

Looking forward to a chat xgins

Hi jerseyman, welcome to the site as gins so rightly says :-) Could I ask if the right leg that gives way is the one in which you have the arthritis ? I do hope that you have seen a doctor with a view to a possible hip replacement, I know how great a difference a replacement has made to many friends I know who have had it and been so relieved they went for it. I had a shoulder replacement two years ago and went from being in agony all the time to being completely pain free in that area, after the initial trauma of the operation cleared, but I know people who've had hips done and come out of theatre completely pain free immediately ....... well worth considering .

I wish you well.

Hi, welcome. My right leg gives way at times, I end up falling over, or when I get up from sitting, unable to bear the pain and unable to move the leg. This can last for 3-4 weeks at a time. The physio and consultant say it is the tendon going from the front of the pelvis straight down the leg. Physio has given me gentle strengthening exercises which can be done hanging onto the furniture, plus ones in bed. It has helped tone down the pain and made me a smidge more mobile. Hope this helps. Hi Jerseyman,

I have Fibro and osteo-arthritis in my hips, knees and ankles, I have alot of pain when trying to walk in my right hip, I use a stick which helps keep me steady as I also have had dizzy spells.

But apart from all that....... I'm GREAT, LOL, hope you enjoy the site. I have found it great and the people in here are always really helpful, if you just want to have a moan someone will listen. Gentle Hugs, Sue x

Hi, I dont know the answer either, sorry, I know that my knee gives in but have been told that is due to arthritis and crepitus. Have you got Fibro aswell?

Morning Ken,

We are in a pickle I am like so many of us with fibro and ostteopporrosis and arthritis etc etc my hip went through clicking but I had serious accident to it some 30 years ago (now I feel old) crashed my car put the femur through my hip socket off work six months three of those in traction in hospital. So some of my pain originates from then I have now osteoporrosis in the femur head. My knee was damaged at same time it took first impact does it give way yes the knee does not as often as it used to but when it goes well if were not for sticks I would be down amongst the daisies. Obviously I havent a clue what is up with yours and only you MRI will let you know when are you down for one? Once done you will have a clear picture of what can be done to help :)

All that and not much help well that is the way it goes hope it is not too painful for you

Hi jerseyman48, I also have osteoarthritis in knees, hips, lower back, and stiff ankles so there aswell. I previously had a knee problem were I would just be stood still, then without warning I would be falling through the air (on the left knee), then I would need crutches to get about for a while, I went to have a lateral release, but turned out just to have my miniscus taken out, cartledge bother. Then the osteoarthritus struck big style, could not walk one day, panic. So I have now used crutches to walk with for many years, on my second pair!, but have the elbow parts up near my arm pits asI stand better and the back does not ach as much. I have read other posts, and I also have pain on the left side, at the ribs and the are lumpy bits, the pain is very uncomfortable for me and when I feel the rib area it is very tender to touch. Got a sore bit on the right side of my ribs as well and there is lump or something there they found it on a mri scan, but it's just sitting there at the moment. I don't know is I have Fibro and am unsure of the symptoms, although some days i feel like a wrung out dish cloth, feeling terrible, maybe somebody could tell me what symptoms they have had, so that i can compare them to mine and when i next see a doctor discuss it with them. to all of the good folk who write here, keep talking, for now ttfn
