Carpel tunnel
Morning Nannie
Do you have any splint gloves for your hands - sometimes can be very helpful to stop the pain. You get them from Physio/ occupational therapy so need to be refered by doctor.
Good luck

I wore the splints for a while then I had surgery on both hands, not had any trouble since .
i had a carpal tunnel op at the end of january and apart from taking away some pain from my fingers its actually made my wrist and fingers much weaker. i know its only 5 months and I'm still hopeful it may improve, but i think they should remove the comment that you notice the difference straight away from the NHS choices website as I'm still waiting!! I won't even have the other hand checked as i really struggled coping whilst the hand healed. I'm not ready to put myself through it again, yet! the op itself was a doodle compared to my recovery, but then everyone is different.
It depends on the results of a nerve conductivity study as to how severe the condition is as together its worth operating, well thats just my opinion. i had no option as they said mine was extremely severe but because sit was left so long before they could operate, i feel thats why mine hasn't improved! xx
I have this terrible condition in both wrists. I have heard many stories of there being only temp relief and then it returning and also of not much improvement. I have therefore decided that I will continue pain meds and splinting and night along with exercises. I don't need the stress of being operated on as well.
I hope you get some relief from your discomfort.
Haven't been on the website for several days now but am glad I have picked up on this discussion. Am weighing up the pros and cons of seeing my GP for what I suspect is carpel tunnel going on in both wrists but the pain/tingling which is now keeping me awake at night extends to my elbows as well , the inside of each elbow is painful to touch. Are GPs generally OK with dealing with this sort of enquiry ?I haven't seen my GP for nearly three years now. I get the impression with these sorts of conditions ( have had tennis elbowx2 and query frozen shoulder x2 in the past ) there is not much they can do and it is self limiting. Or is it different with carpel tunnel ? I can pick things up OK but any vigorous or extended manual work brings on some pretty eye watering wrist pain. My best wishes to all you folk out there with this. Not great , is it ?
