Graded Exercise Therapy
Hi,
I have started this myself but I find I just keep pushing myself to do more and it all backfires on me . I really resent not being fit.
Me too, I'm only meant to do 1500 steps at mo, but I do get frustrated anyway when I want to do more and can't so it will hard sticking to the limit on the days I feel I can do more . I did a 13 mile charity walk a few months before i had this, and walked my dog daily, would love to be able to that again.
Well good luck, be good to hear how you're getting on with it again x
I tried graded exercise, but the grade was too steep! I manage to walk quite a lot as long as I don't hurry, and that seems to be enough exercise for me!
I used to run marathons in a very respectable time, so I feel I've shown I could do it, and have nothing left to prove!

I've not heard of this? Is this available in the uk? Is it successful? X
Yes, it's available everywhere, and is rarely successful.
Usually it's supervised by physiotherapists who start you on an exercise programme, where you gradually increase the amount of exercise you can cope with. Unfortunately, fibro sufferers don't tolerate strenuous exercise at all well, and can end up feeling much worse!
I take exercise at my own pace, and find 'little and often' to be the key. There's no way I could ever do a hard work out in the gym, no matter how gradually I approached it, so I have accepted that plenty of little walks and some stretching exercises daily are my best option!
If you want to try this, you don't really need a physio pushing you - just do what you can, when you can, and stop for a rest when you get tired.
It is important to do something, but people vary enormously in what they can tolerate.

Hi, thanks all for your replies, as ladymoth says it is meant to increase what you can do and also keep your activity level to stop you having up and down days.
