Finally got around to going swimming.

My friend who comes to see me on thursdays remembered I has mentioned it last week and arrived with her cossie and towel, "C'mon, lets go."

I did about half an hour. Warmed up first with a bit of excercise in the water then swam up and down for twenty minutes taking breaks to breath(well pant) Can only do about half a length at a time at the moment but hoping to get up to speed over next few weeks. My back aches a bit today but not as bad as I had worried about. It DID help the hip to loosen up.

After the swim we came back to mine for lunch and then drove to nearby nature reserve and ambled around in the sunshine for an hour.

By half ten last night I was nearly asleep on my feet and today I don't have many spoons to start the day with bit I think it was worth it.

The friend is a lovely lady I lost touch with for a while but recently we have been re affirming our friendship and it's lovely to have someone from the past as a friend as my friends from locally over the last couple years seem to be staying away in droves. Maybe they are fed up with the fibro. I had invited a load to my book swap evening but no one turned up.

Today I have to wait in for washing machine guy to come. I ball**d up the filter by washing something I should not have and OH cannot get it out so had to call in THE MAN.

OH has client coming to house at 12 so I have to tidy sitting room.

I have to go our later as eldest daughter needs to borrow some money so have to go do bank of Mum transfer.

MY SON IS IN FLIGHT ON WAY HOME FROM AUSTRALIA AS I SPEAK.

I need now to get up away from the pc, stretch, crack some bones, wash up, tidy front room, wash up, see the Man, pay the man, go out, get something for dinner, let the dog out, do some ironing, cook the dinner, wash up, . WILL IT ALL GET DONE???/

Nah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spidey makes another coffee, gets some biscuits..puts on BBC i player to listen to PD James....

I just started swimming too. I managed 20 lengths and overdid it as usual. I never learn :-(, I'm going again but fewer lengths for a time.

Yum, coffee. Do you have any hobnobs?

I am slyly but steadily slicing bits of the lemon tart in the fridge. I am tempted to finish it off and say the dog stole it!!!!

Good grief, I could never do what you manage to in a day, where do you find the energy?wish I had some. !!

Hi -- I too have discovered that gentle swimming helps the aches in my shoulders and hips. In fact I have been trying to go at least once a week for the last few years (have just been this morning!) I started with just a few lengths and gradually built up -- I am now managing 40 lengths -- not too fast -- think this is probably my limit -- your friend sounds lovely -- it is great that you have someone to swim with because you can encourage each other. I just go by myself but I now recognize other people in the pool and they say "hello" to me. Enjoy your swimming -- but don't forget to pace!! Xx

Glad you enjoyed the swimming. I'm due to start my course of hydro therapy in a couple of weeks and can't wait. I'd love to be able to swim more often but find most pools are to cold so my joints seize up and start screaming at me as soon as they hit water. The lovely warm pools are all private or in health clubs so well outside my price bracket. Great news about the return of you wandering son, I'm sure it will be wonderful to have him back. I remember when my daughter returned from Oz - I went to Heathrow and found this groggy, slightly dishevelled tanned little pixie and thought I'd never be able to stop hugging her for long enough to actually tackle the long drive home :) x

Foggy, coenzyme Q10, omega oils and multi vit plus C. I have been taking these for a couple of weeks now and seem to be getting more done before I flake out!!! Also have reduced co codamol and upped gabapenting to three a day. One tramadol and one gaba timed just as I go to bed seem to give me a relatively good nights sleep and less pain on waking.

A lot of my skeletal/muscular/tendon pains have been going on for many years before the actual fibro. I have a degree of hypermobility and this can result in tendonitis etc. I have tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, knee problems and hip bursitis on and off for twenty years, dry eye symdrome for twelve yrs and big toe arthritis for at least twelve.

The actual fibro started around after a huge bout of depression around 2003 but took a few years to get diagnosed..

I think that the endorphin flood from excercise such as swimming or dancing is beneficial.

You do not have to be up and about to dance, you can do it sitting in a chair!!!!

Thats lovely mistymeana . I am sure my son must have touched down and been collected by his friend but , well, boys!!! He said "I'll be about at the weekend." I'm sure he will . Ever the non commital sort of chap. Actually not so much the boy, he is thirty now.

i have been going for about 6 weeks now

i do front croul all the time now

and i find that i can keep up to the swimmers in the swimmers lane i

love it soft hugs and keep going
