Modified natural fet protocol questions

Hi all, I'm about to try a modified natural fet after a failed medicated but I have a couple of concerns/questions that I was wondering if I could get advise on.I'm typically an early ovulator and have thin lining so I asked my clinic if they would prescribe something to delay ovulation in order to allow my lining to have the time to grow, so far they have said this isnt something they do. What have other people done in their protocols.

Secondly I'm pretty sure my lining won't grow and I've seen people add in vaginal estrogen to help but what day of the cycle would you start this and does this delay ovulation. Trying to understand how adding in the estrogen keeps it a natural modified rather than ending up suppressing your ovaries like on a medicated.

Just so worried my cycle will end up getting cancelled because I ovulate too early and my lining isn't there yet. Appreciate all your advice. Thanks

hello, so I’m currently on my 3rd modified natural cycle. I’ve never had any issue with thin lining etc so unsure on that part but my clinic will get me to phone them up first day of my period and then about day 9 of my cycle they have me in for a scan to check my lining and to make sure I’ve not already ovulated! They look for a follicle 14mm or above. They then give me a trigger shot to make me ovulate and then I’m giving Cyclogest pessaries which I take 4/5days before transfers to keep that lining nice and thick!! They also test my progesterone to make sure it’s all good too. I’m sure your clinic will do all this too and if your lining isn’t exactly where they want it to be, they may offer meds to help with this or you might have to be on progesterone a little bit longer to thicken it up. I hope that helps and good luck x

on that note, how did you find the medicated cycle? That’s what I’ll be requesting next as I’ve tried natural once and modified natural 3 times now. I’m still waiting for test date with this 4th transfer but I’ve a feeling it’s failing🥲

Thanks so much for your reply. Think I will have to go in early to make sure we don't miss ovulation! So I found medicated ok i know a lot of people don't like all the hormones but it works for so many people. It does make it easy to plan which I like. I'm probably the wrong person to ask as I was on such a high does of estrogen, taken orally and vaginally and then patches as well but my lining just didn't thicken with the artificial estrogen. Took estrogen from day 2 and then a couple of scans to check lining and then when they are happy with the measurement and it is trilaminar you start progesterone for 5 days and then I transfered on day 20. Good luck with your next cycle. X

Hi Dietcoke, I'm also an early ovulator and tend to have a thin lining and the modified natural worked better for me as fully medicated I didn't respond to at all. They just take me in early, day 7 or 8 usually to monitor and then trigger and just progesterone afterwards. One of the cycles they gave me mild stims and that produced a thicker lining so that's an option too if the lining won't thicken up.

Hi thanks so much for your message and so good to hear that your lining worked better on a modified natural, that is what I am hoping as well. Noted that you went in on day 7 or 8 I think I will have to do the same. I'm trying a small dose of gonal f to try and thicken the lining. So you didn't take anything to stop you from ovulating early? Each cycle seems to bring a new set of worries! X

Yes it's better to go in early just in case and for your own peace of mind. They triggered me on day 9 with the cycle that I took mild stims and lining was 8mm but the follicles were around 20mm so I probably could have been triggered day 8 too. They said that if I wanted to take cyclogest to make sure I didn't ovulate I could but they weren't pushed either way because they were triggering me early but again if that reassures you more, you could always do that and then if you needed to stim a day or too longer, you won't stress.

That's incredible that your lining got to that thickness in such a short space of time. Going to have a chat with my clinic this week to see what they think. I know they are not keen on giving anything to hold off ovulation. I read your profile and just wanted to say what a warrior you are. I'm not sure where you are on your journey now but I'm wishing you all the best xx
