Progesterone levels before FET

Whatwillbewillbe_ profile image

Does anyone know what the optimal levels of progesterone are for a FET? Is there such thing as progesterone levels being too high before the FET and during the two week wait?

Please could you clarify? What unit are you referring to? nmol/L or ngmL? 35 is too high or the minimum?

They didn’t say and I didn’t ask, sorry. Mine was low at 25 and I said what does it need to be and they said 35

I had an absolute nightmare with progesterone levels and being told constantly conflicting information. After several cycles being cancelled we finally got to the answer of:

Optimum normal pregnancy level would be around 20 n/mol, IVF FET aim for between 30-45. Mine were cancelled at 80 & 85 , but for some reason went ahead with 64 (I think we just wanted to give it a chance by that point!)

I'm currently 12+5 and still on progesterone until 16 weeks due to previous losses.

I'm not sure where you're based or NHS/Private, but I'm private UK & had to push really hard to even have my progesterone tested before & after transfer.

Good luck!! 🤞

Thank you! That’s so interesting that they thought 80/85 was too high and cancelled. I know some private clinics like it to be over 100 before transfer and say that it can never really be too high. Did they explain what impact overly high levels would have?

I was told body absorbs and uses what it needs to so can’t really be too high and also fluctuates throughout the day so testing isn’t especially helpful anyways as the result in the morning say vs afternoon can differ so I just took pessaries and injections so I had both ways to absorb covered and no tests for levels xx

Hi so my levels day before transfer were 93 and they like it to be 100 so although I was close they asked me to increase my lubion to twice daily plus the cyclogest I was on
