spotting whilst on progesterone 6+5 after FET

hi all

pregnant for the 4th time in 20months, 2 ectopics and a MMC @ 8 weeks previously.

First round and fresh transfer in February - successful and currently 6+5 and taking progesterone x2 daily (rectally).

I had a tiny bit of red blood in my CM on the 4th March, a few drops of red spotting on 16th March then quite abit of pinky CM last night with some more red streaks in. Stopped now and no more overnight.

I’ve had a viability scan on Thursday (20th) and all measuring fine with heartbeat. They couldn’t find anything to explain bleeding.

Has anyone else experienced spotting whilst on progesterone? I’m concerned that I’m going to MC again and the progesterone is just holding off a bigger bleed. All previous loses have started with blood streaked CM so this is hard not to worry about, despite scan last week. Next scan 2/4.

Any positive experience spotting even whilst on progesterone would be much welcomed.

Thank you.

Hey, I'm currently 20 weeks and had a similar experience in this pregnancy. Was on cyclogest and started spotting at 6 weeks every day. I've had 3 previous miscarriages so was very nerve wrecking. At 8 weeks (still getting spotting) I felt like I peed myself and went to bathroom and I had like a period coming out. Went to a&e and baby was fine and they spotted a small heamatoma. I changed cyclogest application to rectally and after that episode did not have any more bleeding or spotting. When I once tried the cyclogest vaginally again I got spotting straight away. I was afraid it wouldn't absorb the same rectally but the doctor seemed confident it was fine so I continued that way. Stopped the progesterone at 12 weeks and till now all is ok.

Thank you for sharing, and congratulations on 20w!

I’ve been using the progesterone rectally from the start so pretty sure it’s not any vaginal irritation - could be small blood vessels breaking due to increased blood flow/hormonal issues or irritation from the scan i had. Really don’t know just praying all is ok x

I had this with both my pregnancies and it ended well. I was put on bed rest until the hematoma disappeared. After that I had no issues with pregnancy and delivery.

I have bled at 7 weeks with every pregnancy, with my ivf pregnancy I had 2 large bleeds at 14 weeks, when I came off progesterone, and at 16 weeks, the doctors couldn’t find any reason for it & my healthy 18 month old is today running wild. So it’s not always bad news ❤️
