ICSI egg not liking the injection

Hello everyone

Is it common for an egg to start degenerating after being injected in ICSI? My understanding was that the chance of this happening is very low and I wanted to know if this is usual/unusual to lose an egg this way? Has this happened to anyone at all ?

Might be an idea to discuss your concerns with your consultant/embryologist as they know your full medical history ,blood results Hope you get some replies to your post

I don't think it's necessarily common but it has happened with one egg in a lot of 7-8 frozen donor eggs twice for me. I was told that one egg disintegrated after icsi. Per my doctor this typically occurs because the egg may have been damaged in freezing and thawing or it may have been a poor quality egg. but I'm sure that the skill of the person in the lab doing the icsi matters as well.

I’m not sure if it was the same thing but I had total fertilisation failure on last round, and not great result on round 2 (however ended in ectopic) but I was told it egg quality. They were mature just not good quality so didn’t survive the icsi process - not sure if it’s same so would maybe ask the embryologist what they mean. BTW I found in all rounds I got more from embryologist who were way more helpful than the drs!
