Should l try one last time?

Hello ladies. Quite confused about what to do. I am 42, one child aged 15 conceived naturally after a long time ttc. My periods messed up 3 years ago after the covid jabs. Before that l was very regular and ovulating every month. My GP did some blood tests and all of them came back normal except AMH which was low at 0.9pmol. Decided to go on the combined pill to regulate the bleeding and it worked. It was such a hard decision as we really wanted another child.Fast forward 2 years and lm still on the pill but now scared and reluctant to come off it in case l don't have a period again or if l start bleeding horrendously again.

At the back of my mind there's that niggle of should we see if we can conceive again? I went to my GP and asked for an AMH test and from what l read it could be done whilst on the pill but your reading might be lower than what it should be. My reading however came back higher than before at 2.8pmol. Im really confused as to what this means???

If l go for a fertility test at a private clinic do l need to come off the pill before or does it not matter? I know we would need fertility support lvf but at my age does that now mean l wont be able to use my own eggs?

Thank you

I'm with care fertility and to make tests accurate I think they need you to have been off birth control for a certain amount of time first

Thank you for your reply. I might give them a phone call to see what their procedure is.

I am 42 and pregnant with own eggs but it was a long long road with lots of collections and transfers but it is possible and is dependant on circumstances but if your AMH is good there is no harm giving it at least one go with own eggs (sooner rather than later of course!) I think you do need to come off the pill yeah xx

I dont think my AMH is good 😔 from everything l have read it is classed as 'Very Low AMH', super stressed and confused 😐

Ah I see sorry misread that! Low AMH can mean less eggs collected but not necessarily lower quality eggs so might still be worth a go, but there is of course donor eggs to consider. I think whatever you decide I would move quickly would be my one bit of advice as every few months is precious for fertility window at our age 🤗 xx
