Hi Jessy. I don't know what your clinic measures in... should hopefully say on any blood test paperwork you have from them. My clinic tests in pmol/L. Mine apparently dropped from 22.7 to 11.4 in one year, which meant I went from eligible for egg sharing and high AMH to the low end of normal (what they told me) and ineligible. I just can't believe that my fertility has declined that drastically in one year in my early 30s. I've heard this can vary by clinic and by test done, though, so I might want to get a second opinion if I were you, although I imagine you got a home test to avoid the expense and hassle of a clinic test.
Thanks for the reply. I've phoned my clinic and they said it was p/mol the same as the latest test I've had done at home. Think I'm going to repeat it with my cli ic as there's no way my level has doubled. Xx
Yeah, it doesn't sound right (although drastic changes can happen, I imagine). I don't know much about the at home tests. Are they supposed to be quite reliable?
No idea if they're reliable. I've looked for reviews and can't find any. The change just seems extreme so I'm going to bite the bullet and pay with my clinic to repeat it. My fear is being on too mild meds for my 3rd cycle if my amh really has gone up somehow x
First of all, your previous AMH with your clinic was amazing! Normally AMH either stays around the same number or declines, it can fluctuate slightly during the month but only by a small amount. Definitely worth having a conversation with your clinic about it xx
My thoughts exactly. I've told the company my amh at home test is b*llocks and that I want a refund. Told them it's impossible to double especially as I'm now a year older! X
Hi there! AMH can increase and decrease and results can be affected by laboratory conditions (or so various consultants have told me this and I've asked what they mean but this but no one has been able to tell me). I have had 4 AMH blood tests. Some within weeks of each other. My results have been 3.0, 2.3, 6.5 and 6.2. The readings of 3.0, 2.3 and 6.2 were all done in the same NHS lab and my one at 6.5 was a private fertility clinic. Your AMH levels are incredible considering you don't have PCOS. So when you look at my results (I know we aren't talking big numbers here) but to go from 2.3 to 6.5, this has over doubled my AMH levels. Which was important for me as I needed my levels to be at 5.4 or above to be eligible for NHS funded cycles. Given the reliance on AMH levels in fertility treatments, I think it is worrying that so much weight can be given to a result when the results are variable due to the different process in which the analysis of the sample has taken place. Other ladies on here have had increases also. If I were you, i would probably keep to doing your AMH blood tests with the clinic you had them done at previously. Hopefully they are sent off to the same lab your previous results came from xx
Thanks for the reply. Think I'm just going to have to get it repeated. I have been taking LOADS of supplements though so who's to say if that's caused it! X
Hi Jessy, just wondering whether you did end up getting the AMH done at your own clinic? I purchased an At-Home test with Connected too but I am now concerned about the results too (still waiting). My current amh is 7.2 and that was tested 18months ago so I would be gobsmacked if they they came back higher but also devastated if they come back ridiculously low. I’ve not read many reviews either for Connected but their 70% offer on their At-Home test was too good to pass!
Yes I did. My clinic retested and its dropped from 45.2 to 24.3 in 11 months. Know it's still high but Im absolutely gutted. I'm aware time is now very much against me x
Mine dropped from 37 to 21 in 8 months and I was successful on the round with the lower reading. I’m 38 and now 25 weeks pregnant. It’s still high which is the most significant factor - good luck x
I think regardless of what your AMH is, it’s so disheartening when it’s almost reduced by half. But as everyone already says, it’s quality + not quantity of eggs. Sending you the absolute best of luck for your next cycle xxx
Hey Jessy, that is still a prety amazing number! Try not to worry to much about the figures as such ( I know thats easier said than done) but Ive seen lots of ladies with much lower AMH (single figures) have success....its just a number.xx
