IVF vanishing follicles - has anyone else had or heard of this?

Hi all,So we did our first round of IVF. I never knew that this could happen and most the nurses in the clinic hadn't heard of it either.

Things were going well though only 7 eggs growing, 3 were larger and 4 not so much. We went for our next scan and I only had one large, one had vanished and the others had shrunk. I have endometriomas but they wouldn't comment on the size of those. We carry on until next scan but nothing bad changed, the one had gotten bigger but nothing else. Our cycle got abandoned.

I just wondering if anyone else has experienced vanishing or shrinking follicles/eggs?

Hi yes I had this happen to me recently.One follicle was massive after 5 days of stims.3 others were very small Next scan all follicles had disappeared.Told it can happen due to age.x

I found something on the internet about it due to low AMH. I have a low AMH but only 32.

Hi. Were you on a long protocol to really shut your ovaries down. Then timing of hCG shot is important, I don’t know, see what your specialist comes up with. Hope all goes well next time. Diane

I was on tablets for 10 days to shut down ovaries, then onto injections. Never got as far as trigger injection as they abandoned the cycle, instead of continuing to retrieve the one.

Hi there.

This happened to us. I had loads on scan, but then only two on day 10, some had vanished and a couple had done nothing.

They cancelled the cycle and I was devastated but we started on my next cycle and got 12 eggs and 4 day 5 blastocysts. I'm only saying this to say there is still hope!

I am 36 and low amh.

This is the best thing I have heard all day!! Did they change any meds or protocol? I've been told I'm already on very high doses, so can't really be increased. Previously on a flare protocol and now doing the antagonist protocol. Congratulations on your success xx

I think I stayed on the same. Because two had gone mad and the rest had done nothing/vanished they weren't sure so decided to stay the same and if another cancellation talked about adjusting then.

I was really bad at not knowing what I was on but think it was short protocol. I only had the injections both times.

It's such a crazy ride. They cancelled me on my birthday and I cried all day and researched adoption and donor eggs - but then the next time was far more positive. I really hope you have the same experience xx

I had this bk I had ovulated instead as felt the pain. Got sedated to be told no eggs at all. And left crying. Was so angry. So the next cycle I made them scan be before sedating me so I didn't experience anything or pay for something I don't need to. Hope your okay x
