I'm wondering if anyone undergoing ICSI had a more successful round of fertilised eggs 2nd time round and if there was anything you done differently? We had our first round in August and they managed to use 10 mature eggs after collecting 15 eggs, 24 hours later we were told that only two of those 10 eggs had fertilised properly. The next few days were awful but thankfully they both went on to being grade A eggs. Unfortunately, one ended in implantation failure and the other in anembryonic pregnancy. My husband already has a child so we have had to self fund. We have one round left and due to how little eggs we had the first time round I'm anxious they'll be even less this time round.
Thanks so much x

Hi WMolly88 - I went from zero fertilised with icsi to having 11 out of 13 fertilise on my next isci round.
We used calcium ionophore (oocyte activation) I don’t think it’s expensive but it really helped us. I know it’s helped others with low icsi fertilisation too. Might be worth asking your clinic. Wishing you lots of luck x
hello, my first cycle I had 10 eggs retrieved which ended in 3 embryos which were viable but grading was mixed. My second cycle my protocol was changed and ended up with 18 eggs collected and 9 viable embryos. The first cycle is always a bit rubbish as the clinic are trying to figure out what will work well for your body so there’s a good chance that the second round will be more positive. Speak to your clinic and see what they recommend for a second cycle. Lots of luck to you xxx
Wow, that's amazing! I bet you must've been so happy with the 2nd round. Were they both with ICSI? Thanks so much for this, it's made me feel much better. Xx
Hiya, I had ICSI, first cycle I had 10 eggs collected, 3 fertilised and only one made it to a low grade embryo. Second round I had 17 eggs, 10 fertilised, 5 grade A embryos, and another couple of lower grade too. One of which is my little girl, I’m just starting my first round for a frozen transfer for a sighting with one of the other embryos.
I think the first round is sometimes a bit of trial and error! Good luck! Xx
We changed protocol, first time round was on short, second time I moved to long so was down regulated with buserlin and then moved on to stims!
In terms of what I did just tried to maintain a healthy diet and get lots of walks and low impact exercise in, probably was less strict on myself the second time round too which in turn probably meant I was less stressed.
Hello! We had a much better success with our second ICSI round.
First round we had 11 mature eggs but only 2 made it to day 5.
Second round there were 9 mature eggs, and 6 made it to day 5/6. The grading was much better this round too.
My consultant added luveris to my stims for the second round. My hubby was also taking proceive max and Vitamin D, and I took proceive max. We were also offered ICSI MACS, so decided to try it!
It’s so hard to know if this is what made the difference, or if there were other lifestyle changes in the lead up to the cycle that helped, but there was a big difference between the cycles, and we are currently 9 weeks pregnant
Hey, my story is on my profile but long story short, yes!
We were having ICSI for male factors and the first round was failed fertilisation (meaning zero fertilised)! Second round with different meds, still failed fertilisation! Third round we used oocyte activation (as mentioned above) and we finally had fertilisation, however poor quality embryos still. Fourth round (after partner had surgery to increase his numbers), we still used oocyte activation, 14 eggs, 9 fertilised, 4 left by day 5, 2 transferred and 2 frozen.
1 vanishing twin (approx 7-8 weeks) but one healthy embryo and now sat looking at my 8 month old. x
Hi WMolly88 , I didn’t have ICSI the first time but I had it the second time round a yes got more eggs collected (you can see the full explanation in my posts). I did only end up with 1 egg that successfully fertilised and implanted in the end but my stims dosage was increased second time round and I (dreadfully) took my trigger shot a day early (I literally cried my eyes out thinking I messed it all up). Second time round, I done a lot of juicing, took pregnacare and tried to eat as clean as possible.
