Transfer Tomorrow Eek!

Transfer tomorrow! Excited, but also trepidatious! Any last minute tips?

I have Utrogestan vaginal pessary, so I'll take my one first thing in the morning and then transfer at 11.30am. Or should I check with the clinic that I'm still supposed to take one? Having IVF makes you second guess and doubt everything!

Hi. Never worry about checking anything with the clinic. Better safe than sorry. Probably a good idea to have your first pessary before your transfer, but check. Drink plenty of water and try eating pineapple core if not on blood thinners. All the best, and for a positive outcome. Diane

Hi, the biggest tip I can give is afterwards just try to live as normally as possible apart from the stuff the clinic tell you not to do like swimming etc. I've had 5 transfers and have tried every old wives tale going like pomegranate juice, Brazil nuts, pineapple etc and on the first 4 it made no difference! This time I just got on with life and even has a day out in London 4 days after transfer for my sister's birthday. I was really worried I had walked too much that and that I had eaten junk food etc but it made no difference and I finally got my positive a few days ago!

I've looked at all the tips on this forum for people getting positives and spent so much time worrying I hadn't done enough. I was so convinced this one had failed and it hadn't! It's pretty much all down to the embryo.

Hope that helps and good luck. X

Thanks for this! Really helpful. It's always a good reminder to not beat ourselves up for what we're doing or not doing (other than the necessary).

Hello Emmie,

Just wanted to say a massive good luck and it's my transfer day tomorrow to. So my inbox is always open if you want a chat during the next two weeks.

With regards to the pessaries my clinic said;

Any vaginal pessaries you are taking, continue as normal but avoid using your pessaries in the 2 hours prior to your embryo transfer. During the transfer any pessary will be removed, having at least 2 hours before your appointment ensures that the hormone held in the pessaries is fully absorbed. If you would normally take your pessary around the time of your appointment, please bring it with you to use after your embryo transfer.

But saying that I have found each clinic sometimes offers slightly different advice so just double check with them.

Sending lots of luck and love 💖🤞🏼xx

good luck! I second the ‘living life as normal’. I had transfer on Thurs 21st and ended up having a really busy ans stressful few days after - funeral next day, little boy was sick during night on the Fri so spent the night wirh him and the Sat scrubbing the house and changing sheets in case it was a bug, then had heavy snow here on the Sun ans my little boy’s birthday party on the Mon! Not quite the relaxing, feet up days… it probably did help take my mind off it though as has too much else to think about. I did make sure toasty feet were possible and lots of water. Was c lucky to have a BFP, so I think really it’s down to that little embryo. Wishing you lots of luck.

Congratulations on your BFP! Gosh that does sound like a stressful week. All has to be done though. Keeping warm and plenty of water also high on my list (as well as all the normal obvious things). But normal life does go on.

Wishing you all the luck in the world. My clinic told me to take my pessary at least 2 hours before transfer.

I drank a small glass of beetroot juice every day from transfer. But other than that I didn’t do anything different to previous rounds. Lots of water and a well balanced diet. Thankfully this was my lucky round number 7.

Good luck. Xx

How exciting and of course best of luck! Probably best to continue taking the pessary as normal before and after. If needed take the first pessary earlier so it has enough time to do its thing.

Regarding tips, I had a massage a day or two beforehand, tried drinking more water and sleeping as much as I could.

Having said that, the night before I couldn’t due to nerves. Stress is always going to be around you. We had an aunt on her deathbed then her funeral during my TWW and shortly after my BFP. Try and control what you can and don’t stress about external factors. Continue with your normal routine, it really helps.

They say laughing is great too, so watch happy things before and after. My boyfriend cracked some jokes during the transfer that helped with my nerves.

Wishing you the very very best. One last bit of advice… It will be hard during the TWW so reach out to anyone but try and avoid testing. Don’t put yourself through that doubt.

Sending positive vibes and a massive hug for tomorrow xx

Thanks Pugs. Yes, lots of rest is a good idea and water. I want my body to be in a good place to be a good home. I will try and avoid stress (easier said than done) and I'll remember to enjoy myself in the 2ww. Sorry to hear about your aunt and congratulations on your pregnancy. Ahhhh the not testing is always a hard one!

Stay away from any stress. Including sitting at home obsessing over whether the transfer has been successful. For my successful transfer I allowed only positive thoughts - even if they were almost forced! I chilled at home but made sure I moved every few hours, just pottering round the house to keep blood flowing. Also warm feet warm uterous! And drink LOTS of water. Good luck 🍀

Positive thoughts! Run up to Christmas there's lots of lovely things to do at least. Going to get our Christmas tree this weekend and decorate it. :) I'll get my slippers out for those warm feet and keep myself well fed.

Good luck and hope it went well! Always worth checking with the clinic about any questions, doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been through it, each time seems slightly different. I was supposed to have my transfer yesterday but caught a cold/bad cough so postponed until the new year. Bring on 2025 I say 🤞🏼❤️
