More random embryo ramblings below... for anyone who is interested! Can’t wait till tomorrow when I can put on my lucky transfer socks I won on Instagram and bring an embryo or two home! I didn’t post it yet, but I made another change to transfer plan!
I was still struggling about whether it was the right decision to go with the two poor blasts rather than the “good” day 3. So... yesterday I asked the clinic to look at the embryoscope at how my two 5CC blasts looked at day 3, and asked were they better or worse than the frozen day 3. She said definitely worse, so I got the clinic to thaw the day 3 embryo and asked to culture it to day 5!
It survived the thaw beautifully and she said it actually looks even better now she has it in the lab and can move it around.
So we will see how that one is tomorrow and if it’s great, transfer it on it’s own, and if it’s not so great, start thawing the others for a double FET.
Eeek
I also got my GP to sign me off for the 2ww. I have no intention of taking 2 whole weeks off but work has been MEGA stressful so have been feeling very anxious, so time to relax!x

All the very best for tomorrow, sending you lots of good luck! Good idea to have the 2 weeks off so you can relax and not think of Work. We have 3 day 3 embryos can I ask you is it an easy thing to thaw out and take them to 5 day blastocysts is this quite a common practice that clinics do? Hope you don't mind me asking we were thinking of doing the same thing as you. All the best xxx
It’s an easy process to thaw, my clinic routinely freezes them at day 3 if they are looking good, if you’re doing banking rounds. If we had more, they would have defrosted all of the day 3s two days before transfer day and grown them to day 5 to choose the best one. But we only have the one at day 3. May I ask why you have three frozen at day 3? More often they are frozen at day 5. What is your clinics plan for them? Xx
Really reassuring to hear this thank you. We are using donor eggs, we have 3 8AA grades which they decided to freeze on day 3 and 1 day 6 AA blastocyst which was a bit more of a slow grower. We are going over to the clinic next week so will ask them about the possibility of taking them to day 5. Am unsure why they froze them at day 3, we just went on there recommendations xxx
Ultimately your clinic will know what works best for them, but if your AA blast is looking great then that’s maybe the one to transfer first? Then if needed in the future (hopefully the first transfer will work!) the other 3 could be thawed and grown to day 5 to choose the best? But since they are all AA grade they are probably best just being transferred as they are?x
