Progesterone blood test & Lubion advice please

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone who is taking Lubion has had their progesterone levels tested after a positive pregnancy test? My initial test said my levels were 30.8, and after I started Lubion they went up to 55. I am now 5 weeks pregnant but had a little bleed a few days ago so went for a beta blood test and asked to check progesterone levels too just to see.

My beta is okay for now (though it was taken in isolation) but my progesterone level has come back at 41. They have advised that I’m still in range, but my levels have obviously dropped from 55. She said it wasn’t clear whether this was because it isn’t a viable pregnancy or whether it’s just fluctuating (?) she’s said I can increase my 25mg Lubion to 50mg if I would like.

So, I’m just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on my current level and whether it’s concerning.

Also, for those of you who are on 50mg Lubion, do you inject twice or do you combine two 25 vials into one injection? I’m finding the one injection okay but wondering whether 50 in one spot would be sore?

Thank you x

I had a test once that came back just over 30 despite being on lubion and 3 pessaries. I spoke to the doctor about it and she said that they like to see it over 50 but it’s a bit arbitrary as in natural pregnancies it can often be lower than that. I decided to increase the lubion to give me piece of mind. The transfer before that my levels were much higher on the same dose so I’m not sure why it was so low that time. I’ve not had success yet but have two shots as standard now (morning and evening). I’m not sure it’s needed but I don’t want to be anxious about it

Hey thanks for your reply. I guess if my levels were around 41 the whole time I’d be less on edge but it’s more that I know they were at 55 2 weeks ago so I’m wondering why they’ve gone down when I’m on 3 utrogestan & 1 Lubion injection.. combined with the fact I’ve never made it past the 6ish week mark of pregnancy AND I’ve had some spotting in the past few days 😅

She did say I could increase to two injections a day but part of me is feeling like if this is going south, I don’t want to prolong it with increased progesterone. I’ve decided to book myself for another hcg tomorrow alongside a second progesterone test. I’m thinking if my hcg has doubled since my last test (Friday) then I will increase my Lubion injection to twice a day, but if hcg isn’t looking like it’s jumping up quick I may stick to the one injection. Clearly I think I’m a fertility doctor these days…

Haha I feel the same way sometimes. That seems like a sensible approach. I hope that your levels double and that this one works out for you x

Are you only taking 2 lubion a day? Your progesterone level is on the low side. Please ask if you can also take cyclogest or crinone.

Hey, I am taking one Lubion injection in the evening and 3 x 200mg utrogestan a day 😅

That does not seem enough. Can you ask for 400mg utrogestan x 3 times a day and lubion twice a day?

She’s told me I can double my Lubion from now. Im just worried that if I am going to have a miscarriage, the progesterone won’t stop it, it’ll just delay the inevitable.

I think another doctor mentioned I’m on the max dose for the pessaries (which I’m clearly not?)

I’m so sorry. Also, how do you use the utrogestan? I take cyclogest rectally which absorbs quicker than vaginally.

I take it vaginally. They said they could give me cyclogest but when I asked which is better they said they’re both the same, so I felt more comfortable inserting vaginally. How do you know they absorb quicker?

I tried both and was told that taking cyclogest rectally absorbs better. If one pops out, I replace it.

I take 25mg lubion in the morning with my 400mg of cyclogest and 25mg of lubion at night. The lubion must be taken 12 hours apart.

What stage are you at currently?

I am thinking to wait for a repeat hcg tomorrow and if it’s going in the right direction I’ll double my Lubion dose. Just conscious that I don’t want to prolong the process if maybe our embryo isn’t right. I’m just soooo paranoid, I’d be totally fine had I not asked for my progesterone levels to be checked on Friday 😂 I’d be blissfully unaware and now I can’t stop thinking about it
