I'm just wondering if someone can help. We've had just been referred to care fertility at Nottingham and I'm just asking how strict they are with the weight? I've lost 4 stone but I'm just on the edge of the bmi and I'm worrying as I can gain extra through pms etc do they take this into consideration? We have already funding accepted by the nhs for meeting criteria but I'm just concerned. My first time doing this so any advice will be helpful

Congratulations on your weight loss! You've done so well to get your funding. We aren't with Care so can't answer for that clinic specifically but NHS funded in Nottingham too. I wasn't weighed again after my funding was signed off. We had a short wait once we were referred to the clinic so I asked if I should try to lose more weight in that time or let things settle and the doctor said as long as I didn't gain a load of weight, do what felt right. I think you'll be fine. Good luck x
Thank you so much for reply and thank you! It's been hard work but I'm feeling much better and ready to start. It's just worrying that the bmi is so tight I'm 5ft 8 and I must be 14 stone to hit or 14st 1. I've got a bit of time so hopfully it'll be ok it's just been an emotional rollacoatser xx
I am with a care clinic, they weigh me every time I have a transfer or new cycle or anything. I think it is to do with the funding as the last time they said they needed to check I was ok to go ahead with it. Hope it doesn’t affect you at all. And well done with your weight loss. Hopefully they will see how well you’ve done xx
Thank you so much for reply. Yes it's a worry especially when I can easily put it back on. We unfortunately haven't had the best experience I passed all criteria with nhs but then now we've been referred to Nottingham after I've relaxed a bit so now I'm worried but hopfully it'll be okay xx
I know it’s a nightmare isn’t it. They never used to do it. I’ve been under them for 5 years 🙃 so well versed in the protocols. They usually weigh you before you start any meds or anything. Well that’s my experience anyway. Just keep doing what you’ve been doing as you’re obviously doing really well. Keeping everything crossed you get through the final hurdle 🫶
I'm with care and starting treatment, they've weighed me twice already for my BMI (once with PMS bloating) as they've said I'd lose the NHS funding if it goes over 30 and that's all before even starting the meds! Congrats with your weight loss and good luck starting your treatment! They are really good at care 😊
Thank you so much for replying. When did they weigh you at your consultation? They've said our first appointment will be video? It's terrifying me as I'm so worried we'll loose the funding xx
It was at my first ultrasound appointment and then again at my nurse planning appointment (to go through treatment plan, order medication and sedation assessment). I wouldn't worry about it though as they'd probably help you or give you advice 👍
Thank you so much for reply. I think they are a lot stricter now with bmi targets etc I'm just praying il be OK I'm dieting still but I'm scared to weigh because il panic and then stress will only make it harder to loose. Xx
