Hubby and I are due to start treatment next month (excited and scared!! It's taken us 4 years to get here!)
I've also just been informed of a new job role at work which I'd like. (I'd still need to apply etc for equal opp's)
But what would you do, would you mention the treatment coming up or not?
I don't want them to disadvantage me (lets face it they might), but then I don't want them to think I'm messing them around by potentially going on maternity leave in 9 months or so. I'm really happy in the workplace and have made this know to the right people!
It's part time (25/30 hours) But after talking to the business manager, I feel the job is pretty much mine if I want to apply for it.
Just a moral dilemma I guess!
TIA

My advice is that you should go for it if you feel it is the job for you.
I wouldn’t mention your fertility treatment but that’s just a personal view because I don’t think it should be relevant to your ability to do the job. Sometimes knowing these things can play an unconscious part in their decision and that would be completely rubbish!
The only thing I suppose you need to consider is whether or not a new job will add any extra stress to you.
I agree it shouldnt make any odd, but we all know what some companies are like!
Am current contract is only till June. This will be a permanent role and one I've done before in another organisation. Its will be a tad more stress than my current role, but nothing major.
I was in a similar situation not knowing whether to change jobs or not but I would say go for it, we have to sacrifice so much going through treatment, you shouldn't have to miss out on this too. I wish you every success but if the 1st cycle doesn't work you may kick yourself for not going for the promotion. I wouldn't say anything but would def apply.
Best of luck with work and starting treatment. Xxx
I personnally think that if you are happy and fulfilled professionnally, this will help in your personal projects!
But keep in mind level of stress of this new job, so this is not becoming unbearable.
I now have a role with some responsibility and stress; to be honest, this helps me having a balanced life when things are tough with ivf. But can be tricky at times....
I would definitely go for it if you are happy at work it can only be a benefit.I wouldn't mention your treatment at the moment in case it does affect the decision and as we know there are no guarantees if all goes well and you need maternity leave the job will work around that .Good luck x
I too happen to be in a similar position, am just starting a new job and have just found out we are going to have to go down the ivf journey, so I can completely sympathise will what you’re going through in that respect.
In terms of your job is it possible to go for the job and then when you get it explain what is going on? Although this does depend on how much they already know.
Fingers crossed for you and good luck whatever choice you make 💕 xx
Hiya i have just litterally done the same thing ..... ive been promoted in my work place taking a job that gives me alot more responsibility... i havent told them about my treatment personally and i dont think i will untill after the 2 week wait if its a positive result...... luckily my new role is alot less physical work and more mental so thats a pluss i just need to think about my stess levels ..... i know things in the workplace are confidential if i were to mention this to my manager but the most stress for me is constantly having to answer questions about my treatment i like to forget about things from time to time ... so go for it ....... best of luck with everything 🍀🍀🍀🍀Xxx
