Me and my OH have our consultant appt Feb 6th then our nursing appt Feb 11th for our first cycle of IVF. And I'm due AF Feb 14th... Will the 14th be the day we start our first cycle or will the clinic make us wait until the following month?
Also we've been told I need a recent AMH blood test but is this day of cycle specific or can they just take that on the 6th when they do our other bloods? I can't get hold of the clinic to confirm.
Thank you all and hope you've had a lovely Christmas x

Hi, Good luck with your cycle. It will depend on your protocol when you start, it it’s short then you will start from the date of your period, if it’s long you will start day 21. We did long protocol and it was around 4 weeks from the first injection until egg collection. Your nurse appointment will likely be showing you how to administer the drugs and to sign the many consent forms. The AMH is not date specific, it can be done on any day and is normally done with a scan to check Antral follicle count xx
Thank you for your reply, they've said to us we will be on the short protocol so as long as that doesn't change and there's no reason for it to hopefully we will still be on that!
I'm just trying to try and plan a little! I know it's impossible but I need to pre warn work as much as I can. Thank you again for your help x
I did short protocol and it started day 2 of the cycle with injections for 10 days and egg collection 2 days after final injections.
You will probably want to take at least a day off after egg collection. The anaesthetic will leave you tired and less than 100% for work anyway and you may feel a bit sore or tender around the abdomen and just generally crappy. So if you need to book time off I would definitely recommend it after EC. Best of luck with it!!!
Hi I’m on my first ivf cycle to. My appointments were close to AF due day to. At my nurse appointment they assessed what dose I needed, then they arranged for the med company to contact me to arrange delivery. Luckily they could deliver the meds promptly so I could start. If your clinic operates the same way then it may depend on if your delivery can get to you on time. I hope you can start ASAP x
