Hi sheri I know that feeling, it's so hard. I lost about 2 stone on SW for ivf but would have loved to lose more. Not sure what you've tried so far but I would highly recommend slimming World. Was the only thing that worked for me. I do very little exercise, just walk a lot but I'm wondering if 5 times at the gym is too much? I suppose if you don't do weights etc then it's probably OK. Slimming World do have a super speed type programme which basically just encourages you to choose fresh fruit and veg over processed diet food. I've heard it works wonders. Also before my second round of ivf I cut out dairy and meat and basically went mostly vegan and lost about a half stone with very little effort (I still drank alcohol and ate chocolate in moderation!). Sorry not sure if any of that is the advice you're looking for but anything is worth a try 😊 Good luck on your journey xx

Yeah i have been doing slimming world since January.. I was thinking maybe doing slim fast for a few weeks... it just seems like every time I get over a hurdle there's another one stright after.. good luck on your journey too.. 😊xx

I'd personally avoid anything like slim fast. You want to get as many nutrients as possible and drastic weight loss programmes can severely affect egg quality which you don't want. If you're prepared to do shakes, could you possibly do your own? Like a smoothie for breakfast and then veggie soup for lunch. Would be much healthier (and probably cheaper too!!). You can also make sugar free granola bars for very cheap from porridge oats and dried fruit which I found helped the mid morning hungry attack xx

Not sure what you’re doing in the gym, but if you’re just doing your own thing in the gym maybe you could enlist the help of a PT to try and help with the workouts focusing on fatloss. It’s easy to get in a rut in the gym and lose the effectiveness, and legs bums tums classes etc don’t do a lot compared to a good PT.

Or try long distance running, as weight can drop off with that. Follow a program that will get you up to running 10k at a time maybe? As lilli79 said I’d avoid any meal replacement shakes. Are you using an app like MyFitnessPal to track calories? You can put your target weight loss in and it calculates how much you should allow to continue weight loss.

Also, have you have your thyroid checked? Struggling with weight loss is a symptom of under active.

Just suggestions as I’m no expert xxxx

I lost 7 stone doing slimming world for ivf make sure you eat loads of speed food and exercise wise maybe try something new as your body maybe used to the exercise you are currently doing xx

I am in a silmilar position but I am 40 soon and as there are age as wel as BMI restrictions to getting IVF, I think I have pretty much lost the battle. The good news for you is that you have plenty of time.

Get your Dr to refer you to the dietician. When I first saw my fertility specialist back in December she refferrred me but then I had to chase them up at my second appointment in March. I finally got my appointment through and it's for two weeks time but I think it's a case of too little, too late.

Your fertility dr may weigh you and send you away before doing any treatment. They said that they would have done that to me and told me to come back when the weight was lost, but because of my age, she authorised investigations. As it turns out I am ok but it is a problem with my husbands sperm which she says there isn't much to be done except to take zinc and wait and see. She said she would recommend IVF but can't because of my BMI.

If only I'd known all this at 36 or even sooner, I could have tred othe rweight loss methods but I have to admit it is probably too late. We could try to go private but we just haven't got the money.

Get your GP to refer you to a dietician if you can't get the fertiliry clinic to do so. Make plenty of noise until they dp and good luck.

First of all, well done on your weight loss so far, that’s fantastic & you should be really proud. I agree with Orla9298, most effective way is to mix up your routine & shock your body. Mixing in weights with cardio / conditioning will help with fat burn & give your metabolism a boost. Maybe cut down the number of gym sessions but increase the intensity? Definitely avoid dieting, as you need fuel and energy to train harder & also want top quality eggs with the end game in mind. Perhaps ask a PT to help you with a programme & I’m sure you’ll shift the extra stone & keep it off. Good luck 😊xx
