Hi, I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced constant bleeding/clots due to Utrogestan pessaries?
I’ve had two early scans at 5 weeks 4 days & 6 weeks - first time due to quite heavy bleeding & second time because of more bleeding and a big clot (followed by multiple smaller clots). We do keep getting reassurance from these early scans (unexpectedly saw heartbeat on Saturday at last scan💕), but the bleeding just isn’t stopping and it’s looking like it’s because of these bloody pessaries!
We have our official viability scan moved forward to this Tuesday because of the constant bleeding but in the meantime just wondered if anyone else has suffered from the same? It’s like everytime a pessary is inserted it starts a vicious cycle of bleeding/clotting all over again. Surely it can’t go on like this for the next 6 weeks? 😳
Also, trying to insert a pessary when there is a flow of blood seems like the most pointless thing ever? Today it literally slid straight out of me (sorry for the graphic details).
Google informed my husband of an injection version - has anyone else had any experience with this?

Hi lovely the injection are called Lubion and the pessaries you can take rectally I never have but read some women on here have when they have been having problems hope that helps
Ahhh yes I’ve seen the name Lubion floating around in some posts but didn’t know it was progesterone! I have also seen people posting about inserting rectally but have only seen this for cyclogest? When I look at the little paper in the box it only mentions vaginal 🤔 at this point I will try anything though haha x
sorry to hear about the bleeding it’s so hard not to worry. I changed to taking them rectally after bleeding and it helped. It’s worth noting that the scan itself (if internal) can also add to the cervical irritation. I bled after each scan which also didn’t help the worry! X
Thanks for your reply. When you say bleeding did you have spotting or was it more? Good to know about the internal scans too, I haven’t had issues in the past but it does make sense that that would not be helping either!
Do you use Utrogestan or Cyclogest? I’m such a prude with anything near my backside 😂 I used to read posts about people inserting the pessaries behind before I had actually attempted transfer and used to think omg I couldn’t do that.. on a scale of 1 to 10 how awkward is it? I used to use tampons so actually inserting marginally was soooo easy for me (if we ignore the bleeding part etc) x
utrogestran should be inserted vaginally, but cyclogest can go either way! Honestly I found using cyclogest rectally the best for me. If feels weird when it first goes in but after a few minutes you can't even feel it. I'm so sorry you're going through this worry.
I had bleeding with clots. It’s really not bad putting them in. I was on cyclogest. Just aim to put them in at least an hour before a bowel movement. X
How long did your clots last for, and did it turn out okay? Unfortunately it wasn’t a good result for me in the end and I feel like I will be terrified if I ever see clots again after transfer 😅
Oh I’m so sorry it didn’t turn out well for you. On the occasion I had clots they lasted about an evening with the bleeding lasting a couple of days. This was at 5 and 7 weeks roughly but on this occasion it worked out ok. I’ve previously had 6 miscarriages though so I know the worry with bleeding. Look after yourself xx
