Help bleeding at 6 weeks

Had early 6 week scan booked this morning. Started bleeding with light cramping two hours before. Scan showed heartbeat at 94. Anyone else gone on to a healthy pregnancy. Feeling so helpless and lost

Hey hun bless u, I believe it’s common from what I read in this platform. The good news is your little one had a heartbeat and that was after the bleed right? What did clinicians say if u don’t mind me asking. Xx

Yes heartbeat was after bleeding. But I’m still bleeding. They said it might last a few days. They’ve booked me on for another scan in 10 days. All I can do is wait. So hard as I’ve still got cramping and just can’t help thinking the worst. Dr said that he would prefer heartbeat to be over 100 but it was ok. They’ve just told me to rest.

I started bleeding and cramping on Wed which was the start of my 6 weeks, it's all calmed down now. I've got my scan booked for Thursday 🤞How did the scan go, were the nurses concerned?

It was all a bit of a blur to be honest. They tried to reassure me but said obviously if it gets worse or doesn’t stop then it’s over.

Hi,

I went through something similar...I was at 5 weeks 1 day and had bright red bleeding and clots. Of course I panicked and cried all night. They said It could still be too early to hear a heartbeat if I were to go in for an ultrasound so that would freak me out even more and so my dr’s office didn’t give me many choices.. I ended up getting to a lab the next day and my hcg levels were still elevated. 2 days after I did another draw and they continued to rise. They said it could have been a subchorionic hematoma I believe? After that all I could do was wait until my first scheduled pre natal ultrasound 3 weeks later! On the 8th week we heard the heartbeat for the first time! I still showed a line of fluid on my ultrasound that he thought was blood and said this didn’t mean I would bleed again for sure, but the baby looked good as of now. I am currently 10 weeks 2 days.. I had another scan this last Tuesday right before 10 weeks and the baby was already bigger! Strong heartbeat and I did still have the “line” appearance on the ultrasound. I have a long way to go still but I know how frightening it can be to see that bright red blood and have your heart drop. Many women have a bleeding episode in early pregnancy and can go on to achieve successful pregnancies, keep the faith. Sending prayers your way

Hi. I had bleeding at 6, 8 and 12 weeks but went on to have a healthy pregnancy. My twins are now almost 7 months old and they both are healthy and happy. I think it’s quite common to have bleeding in IVF pregnancies. I know it’s very worrying but try your best to hold on to positive thoughts. My advice would be if you’re bleeding again call your labour ward as soon as possible so they can do all the necessary checks. Sending you best wishes. X

I had a similar experience, started bleeding a couple of days before my 6 week 6 day scan and was heartbroken, thought it was all over and felt so low.

But then went for the ultrasound and a heartbeat was there! We came home relieved and happy and then had another bleed, this time with clots, so the worry set in again. But then it calmed down and haven’t bled since, will be 8 weeks on Monday.

The clinician said that it was likely to be the progesterone pessaries that I was taking. So that could be another reason, if you have been taking them since egg collection. I think it causes an imbalance after a while in oestrogen / progesterone which can cause bleeding. Keep the faith and the more I talk about my experience the more I discover how common bleeding is in early pregnancy!!

I’ve had it go both ways. Bleeding with a heartbeat that ended in miscarriage at 11 weeks and bleeding in my current pregnancy that’s at 20 weeks. In both I bled lightly at 5w2d and very heavily with clots at 6w1d. Exactly the same days in both. I had bleeding in my first IVF pregnancy with my daughter at 12 weeks, no clots, and she was fine. I had similar light bleeding this time at 13 weeks. No bleeding in my natural pregnancies, so I do really think it’s something about the IVF process. Hopefully everything will be okay. Best of luck!
