Does medication like Overleap increase your chances of falling pregnant? Can you take this if trying naturally if it does?

Overleap is a fertility medication used to help women who do not ovulate [ release an egg] on their own and are undergoing fertility treatment within a clinical setting

Yes I know. I’m currently on my third cycle of ivf. My understanding though is that it stimulates more eggs and helps those that are there grow so wouldn’t that also work if you were trying naturally one month?

With this type of medicine it is important that you are scanned regularly to make sure everything is processing well

my fertility doctor in each of my three cycles has only ever done one scan ahead of an egg retrieval, is that normal?

Hi, apologies for the long reply! But my understanding is that it is only given via injection and during an Ivf cycle? I believe they would give you other oral medications to help with ovulation and if this doesn’t work, they would then suggest ivf with ovaleap.

Iv just had my first cycle, due to have a frozen transfer next month. I couldn’t have a fresh transfer due to OHSS so this had to be delayed until my body had recovered and my hormones were back to normal unfortunately. This is just my understanding and I guess every clinic is different, but when I was having my ovaleap injections, I had 2 scans before my egg retrieval that they booked in when I started 2days apart. They were checking to make sure the medication was doing its job (it stimulates the ovaries to produce more follicles, in the hope of having more mature eggs which we know is not guaranteed) also to check that the ovaries weren’t being overstimulated as this can be dangerous and you can become very unwell if not monitored. It can also cause an imbalance of your hormones (this is what happened to me) and my estrogen was too high and I had a lot of follicles which increased the size of my ovaries. This is why they delayed the transfer for me to stop me becoming unwell. It also wouldn’t be a good combination to have a potential pregnancy like this as well as enlarged ovaries and hormones all over the place, this would also have lowered my chances of a successful pregnancy at the time. My guess would be that you can’t use this type of medication while trying naturally as you need to be monitored closely and needs to be controlled, but if you hear any differently do let us know! Good luck with journey I wish you all the best x

Thanks! I definitely wouldn’t say it would suit everyone but in my case with a low egg reserve I won’t have many follicles

Ovaleap stimulates your ovaries to grow multiple follicles for IVF, if using it when trying naturally you could get pregnant with multiple babies, which would be high risk. Xxx

Thank you! I’ve done three cycles and not had more than 3 mature follicles each time and only ever ended up with two early blastocysts per cycle. I have a low AMH and I’m 40 so my chance of multiples (beyond twins which I’m fine with) is very slim
