our 6th attempt at ivf (medicated cycle 225units of Gonal F) was not successful as the eggs were abnormal. Other than ‘no eggs’ I think we have had every eventuality that does not involve a positive test.
The clinic have now advised either natural IVF, mild IVF where medication would be started day 5 or 6 or donor eggs.
In terms of IVF I am young with low AMH.
I have looked online but there is very little on natural ivf or mild ivf. Has anyone had any experience of either of these? Any dos and donts?
Any advice appreciated!!

Hi there! I’m 36 and had AMH of 5.3 last year when I was 35. I had two mild IVf cycles, one was a BFN and one where we ended up with no embryos. We switched then to natural modified IVF for the next 2 rounds and we got 3 day 5 blasts from those two rounds. It was 125 gonal F for about 7-8 days I think. One ended in early miscarriage at 5 weeks, and the next one im currently 11+5. We ended up with what I think were better quality blasts from lower drugs and the whole thing was a lot less harsh on my body. I still have a journey to go on and still early days but we have another blast in the freezer as well. I’d definitely recommend natural modified. Best of luck!! Xxx
Thank you for your response!! Congratulations that’s great news!!!
Is the natural modified where u started taking the Gonal f/meds from day 6-7 of your cycle?? We have been given this as an option also. There just seems to be limited research! Xx
Yep, started on day 6 or 7 and then stimmed on a low dose. “Low and slow” seemed to work a lot better for me. Ultimately it was my decision but the clinic guided me based on success they had seen with others. Xx
Thank you!!! See they advised natural to us but I can’t see much evidence behind that online and there’s none on HEFA! I think I’m swaying more towards the cycle you did xx
On our website they have Webinars from guest speakers on different fertility issues + Q & A sessions - these are also recorded Look at fertlitynetworkuk.org - click menu and select Learn about fertility - then scroll to Webinars Then scroll to 2022 Webinar Series to find "Mild IVF with Professor Geeta Nargund "
Thank you - where did you listen to this please? Did they say it is an option that shozuod be considered? hEFA didn’t advise it when I looked which was what put me off
