Sensitive post - Miscarriage?

So I’m currently waiting for my second appointment at the EPU (13th Aug) to confirm if my pregnancy is viable or not. We don’t believe it is as I’ve already had two scans with my IVF clinic (16th & 23rd July) where I was advised to stop my medication and one scan at the EPU (30th July) which did show some yolk sacs but no embryo. I was technically just over 9 weeks but was being measured at 6+4. On Friday night just gone I started getting some cramps, back ache and then brown spotting (mainly when wiping) and passing a few small clots but a bit like a normal period. This has continued over the weekend although today I’ve had more of a consistent pain but all quite manageable at the moment and continues to be brown rather than red. I’m even planning to go to work tomorrow assuming it doesn’t get really bad overnight. Does this sound like it could be the start of a natural miscarriage or could it be a delayed withdrawal bleed from the meds? I’ve never been in this situation before and unsure what to expect or who to ask. Everything I read online just fills me with fear and dread. I know each person is different but any advice would be appreciated.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I have to pre-empt this with I am not a medical expert but I had a similar thing where I had a MMC where the scans showed growth but not enough.. anyway I started like you with pain and bleeding and this continued for over a week but at my next scan the embryo was still there.. so I would recommend you go to EPU tomorrow and see if this is a MC or not, because sometimes you can bleed but nothing actually happen. I am so sorry this is happening to you it’s a miserable time xx

Hi Hun, so sorry for your loss 😔. I had a blighted ovum which is what it sounds like you’ve had (yolk sac and no embryo) I was told at 6+4 that I was measuring 4+5 and had my natural miscarriage at 9 weeks. Started with some brown ‘muddy’ discharge and bearable pain like a period pain but in waves like contractions. Then all of a sudden I stood up and the gestational sac just blobbed out like a small soft boiled egg. The bleeding came after but again not pouring blood just a bad period. Please do inbox me if you need more help. I’m so sorry this happened to you 🙏🏻 Sending big hugs xxx

Thank you that really does help. I’ve woken up this morning feeling a bit better but will see how the day goes. It does seem to come and go but I don’t think I’ve passed much yet. Xx
