Did anyone have bilateral salpingectomy before IVF?

both my tubes have hydrosalpinx (the left more severe than the right) and my doctor recommended taking both tubes out before starting ivf. Wanted to see if there are any other women going through the same with bilateral hydrosalpinx

Hope you get some replies to your post It is best practice to remove the tubes as it is thought should the fluid "spill out the them " it could cause an issue with the implantation of the embryo

i had well have hydrosalpinx

My first cycle of ivf back in 2011 was unsuccessful due to it, so I had an operation where they removed one tube as the other one wasn't as bad was told to try naturally didn't happen, then was in wrong area wrong age for ivf so we gave up until we moved to right area but had to start from scratch where my other tube was now badly damaged, but rather than remove it they clipped it before o could start the cycle and luckily I had my son from that cycle,

I would highly recommend removing or clipping the tube as the hydrosalpinx fluid can destroy the embro,

When you say "clipped it" how does it work exactly? My doctor suggested disconecting from the uterus for the smaler hydrosalpinx

o had keyhole surgery and they clipped the tube so no fluid can escape that was through the nhs so I'm not sure if cheaper or easier but it's not caused me any problems having it clipped, the other tube was completely removed but that was done privately but it was really bad so I guess it had to be removed.

As long as the fluid can't escape the tubes be that they've removed or clipped be the best thing,

So it didnt affect your ovarian reserve removing the tubes?

Hi lovely,

I had both my tubes clipped (not removed) before starting IVF. I don't know if we wouldn't have been successful if we hadn't done this but we had a very messy journey - so who knows! But I'm sure it was the right thing to do, as the fluid inside can be toxic to the embryo

Good luck xx

I had one tube clipped for IVF. And it’s right (as above) that removal or clipping is necessary before IVF or natural pregnancy's as if the fluid leaks it can damage the embryo.

I had to have mine clipped although removal was first planned, as I had scarred tissue connecting to other areas and the surgeon had said he’d only remove if it was safe to do so. Xx wishing you the best of luck if you proceed xx

I had both tubes removed, one due to an ectopic, one was then also blocked…. I’ve just gone through IVF, first fresh transfer 3 weeks ago, got my BFP day 10 and awaiting my scan tomorrow xx

Wow amazing! So both tubed removed and you had no issue with ivf? As in reduced egg reserve or response to stims?

No issues so far, fingers crossed my ivf has gone pretty textbook up until this moment 🤞🏽. My AMH level was 37.7 (I am 37) I responded to the stims slowly at first but they upped my dose twice & it seemed to boost them! Had the egg retrieval & they all made it to 5AB X

37.7? That's huge! Are you in the uk?

Or do you mean 3.7? Did your amh go down after tube removal?
