I have double hydrosalpinx so they say it is necessary because it impacts implantation and can even cause miscarriage. Has anyone ever managed to repair their tubes, rather than have them removed? I am so sad to have to do this, but don't want to put any good embryos in extra danger. Still the idea of never being able to get pregnant naturally feels devastating for me.

Surgical consult yesterday for bilateral salpingectomy
I have had one of my tubes clipped with a filchie clip. The original plan was to remove the tube but that wasn't possible due to my endometriosis - it had stuck to something else. Anyway it did the job as the IVF worked. I know it's sad to know you can't get pregnant naturally but it's for the best as can cause ectopics etc.
Hi lovely... it’s a horrible feeling that your feeling and I was the same when I was diagnosed. I went against the consultants advice to have my tube last removed and guess what my ivf failed. My Italian doctor said well ‘ what do you expect? Do you want a baby or not? I was so angry at the time at his comments but he knew best. I then had surgery to remove the tubes but they only found one hydro although they said they saw 2 on a scan. And guess what.. after that treatment it was successful. So my advice is try not to worry about the procedure and not being able to get pregnancy naturally... easier said than done. But ultimately it’s a baby that you want so if that’s your journey then we just have to do it. You will have your child and ivf works so try to focus too much on the negatives. And just say to yourself by doing this I’m giving my body the best possible chance of having a child. Good luck my dear 😘😘😘
Aww lovely, I know exactly how you feel. I had both my tubes clipped and was devastated about never being able to get pregnant naturally. However, as the others have said, ultimately you want a baby and this is giving you the best possible chance of that happening. The chances of you getting pregnant and keeping it to term with double hydrosalpinx is very slim so think of it as just a way to increase your positive outcome.
Also, don't beat yourself up about it. I did for ages as was convinced it was my fault, but ultimately you will likely never know why it happened, you just need to focus on the future and your little family xx
I had my tubes disconnected from my uterus and cauterised. I had bilateral hydros just like you. God, I mourned. I was heartbroken for a long time and had to really go through a lot of grief over all the 'miracles' that would never happen. My tubes were so damaged though so it was never going to happen naturally anyway. Now, I feel grateful I don't have the 'what if?' every month to be honest. I feel for you though. It is so hard. xxx
Personally I wouldn’t repair them. Can’t tell you how many people in the ectopic groups I’m part of who ended up having an ectopic pregnancy in a tube that was operated on. Problem is once the little hair like muscles in the tube are damaged there is no way of fixing them and there is no visible sign of damage to indicate a problem until you end up with an ectopic
I had to have both my tubes removed due to ruptured ectopics and am now 10 weeks with twins via IVF
Also IVF actually increases the chance of an ectopic so you could lose perfectly good embryos by them implanting in a “repaired” tube that no longer works (also know several people this happened to)
