First time posting! I’m 41 been TTC 2 years! Just on second round of Clomid! Told this month I have low AMH 1.4 and that ivf drugs may not work. Just looking into clinics as I have to try and I’ve come across mild & natural IVF which apparently is good for low AMH, has anyone any experience of this! Really don’t know where to start! Thanks

I'm 41 and also been diagnosed with low AMH, I believe mine is lower than yours. have to say in my personal experience when going through stims (I've done quite a few rounds over the last 7 years. I have other issues also) I have always had better egg retrieval outcomes with low/mild stim cycles. Conventional ivf cycles are not for me. My body just rejected and didn't respond. I had those cycles abandoned or medically stopped.
Mild is a lot less meds and focuses on getting a few quality eggs and not large amounts as it is unlikely we will produce loads with low AMH no matter how much we are stimulated. With mild I've been lucky enough to retrieve 4 eggs with at least 2 becoming embryos each round. However I have adenomyosis which they suspect has caused implantation issues resulting in chemicals and early miscarriages.
I did entertain cycles with higher doses of meds but will stick to mild stims moving forward.
I hope it helps but each individual responds definitely to stims.
ah thanks so much for replying! That’s really interesting! Sorry your journey has been so tough. I’ve taken the plunge and booked an initial scan with the natural/mild clinic to see what they can offer me! Guess I won’t know until I try!
Yes, you have to start somewhere and with a baseline scan they will be able to give you quite a bit of information. I wish you well in your journey. xx
HI There, it depends on each person but from my experience milder cycles works better for me and gave me good embryos, high meds (like my last cycle ) ended up with no embryos. I think aiming for a few but better quality embryos is the approach I like
Hi Buttontin. Sometimes a more gentl approach can encourage eggs that want to come out rather than being forced out. Probably not such great numbers, but hopefully 6-8 good ones would do just nicely. Good luck with whatever you decide. Diane
Hi Buttontin I hope you don't mind me asking but how did things go with you for the mild IVF option in the end? Considering booking in an initial scan and consultation but not sure if it all sounds too good to be true? Any advice, and updates would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance
I was due to start in January having gone through the scans and consultations etc. I was due to order my drugs when my cycle started but then after 2.5 years and even though we’d been told my chances of conceiving were incredibly slim, just before Christmas I got a positive pregnancy test! This was on my 4th cycle of clomid! Which I have to be honest I’d given up hope in after 3 previous clomid cycles failing I am now 33 weeks pregnant. 🤞🏻we were incredibly lucky!
So I’m really sorry I can’t be of much help other than to say…. There is always hope, an nhs consultant made it very clear with my age 41 then and very low Amh I was very unlikely to get pregnant even with ivf and I did!
The clinic we had gone with was create fertility. And we had found them ok though nothing to compare them too really!
