Hey everyone. Does anyone have any tips for questions to ask in a follow up appointment for failed ivf cycle please ? I have a few but wondered if there are some useful really useful questions i can ask - planning to take my treatment private now after two failed nhs cycles with a useless clinic.
I believe the use of calcium Ioniohore was detrimental to my eggs and only one out of four survived to make blastocyst. I have received all of my notes (requested a while ago) and it doesn’t have the embryologist report which I asked for specifically.
Thanks

Hi hun. I'm going to follow as I am in same situation at you. Sorry you have had 2 failed rounds. I did have my son 6 years ago through NHS at guys hospital. Since then I have had the gastric sleeve a couple of years ago and I'm now wondering if the amount of vitamins I take are going to be good for my eggs. I am 36 and looking to do a new round with a sperm donor. X
Hi, you could ask them their rationale behind adding calcium l. They are probably going to say to improve fertilisation rate given your first failed round. IVF cycles are about trial and error and they made a change to your protocol, not all NHS clinics would do this for the second cycle. Tbh many on here would argue that it's a numbers game... even if you had 3 eggs fertlised (75% fertilisation rate) at day 1, by day 3 there's a 50% drop off rate so you may have ended up with one early blastocyst or expanded blastocyst. Try not to be too harsh on the clinic. I wish you all the best with your private clinic journey.
I would ask for their reason behind calcium and what data points and evidence did they use to arrive at their decision. I would push to have a conversation with the embryologist. I would want to know what did they learn? What tests would they carry out before another round? How would your protocol be changed. It’s just useful information irrespective of going private next. Again I would be asking them to back up with medical data and research… hope that helps? X
