Hello ladies,
I am a bit worried and would like to speak to anyone else who have received the same message from their clinic as I am really lost and need some help.
I had my eggs removed earlier last month and been informed the sperm wash solution used to create embryos was a faulty batch with low levels of sodium pyruvate.
The clinic has said everything is fine however I have checked on HEFA and Cooper Surgical ( same company who are in the press at the moment for law suits on the faulty freezing solution ) and it says the effects on sperm cells is ‘ unknown’.
I also find it slightly strange that day 4 embryos were all all looking good and suddenly day 6 embryos reduced from 8 embryos all of good quality to 2 blastocyst.
Understand there would be a reduction but this is as way below KPI at 25% for my age.
Am really worried whether to go ahead with my FET transfer in a few weeks encase there is any affect on the embryo and should the cycle work know on to a baby.
I’m waiting to speak to HEFA MD tomorrow for clarity, just don’t know who to believe.
Below was the message from the clinic :
This is to inform you that we have received a notification from Cooper Surgical to ourselves and other clinics on 19-02-2024 about one of their products.
Cooper Surgical are manufacturers of IVF products including a sperm wash solution (media). They wrote to us, and other clinics, to inform us that certain batches of this solution have been found to have lower levels than expected of a supplementary compound, sodium pyruvate. This is not a critical component of this media; all of the critical components such as glucose were normal.
