Male fertility supplements - advice needed

Hi, my partner and I are looking to start egg donor treatment abroad. We've got the added complication that he has obstructive Azoospermia due to a hernia op. Our UK clinic told us we can't ship his frozen samples abroad to a foreign clinic so he'll have to undergo surgical sperm retrieval abroad.

We don't know the current quality of his sperm as the frozen sample was produced before the op 10 years ago. We want to ensure it's in the best possible condition though.

Can anyone recommend any supplements / ingredients (e.g. maca powder) etc that he can start taking? I know each sperm cycle is 3 months long so he wants to start asap.

Thanks x

Hi there, sorry to ask a question on such an old thread but could you tell me where you ordered the Proxeed from please? Many thanks.

I have low sperm count, and my consultant told us retrieved sperm direct from the testes is a higher quality than sperm from ejaculate, so you have a great chance of getting good sperm for your cycle.

Also, egg quality is trumps so to speak. We tried for many years with my wife's eggs, she's very healthy and the only thing going against her was her age, (over 37) Because of my low count, and my own feelings that she deserved the best chance if I was the one with the problem, we moved to donor sperm cycles, and got BFN's.

With our donor egg cycle, it worked first time (so far thanks god, my wife is a healthy 32 weeks). Our consultant always said a high quality egg from a young woman (our donor was 24) can produce a healthy baby even with low quality sperm. It looks like he was right.

You have a very good chance just by using a egg from a young donor, so try not to stress too much about the sperm, with a sperm retrieval he should produce sperm good enough for the cycle.

During our multiple cycles, I took Selenium , tell him to load up on antioxidants, if its an obstruction causing the low count, the quality will go up. For me I damaged my testes when I was younger, the trauma meant I was producing normal sperm but in low quantity. I assume they'll be doing ICSI, so they only need 1 sperm and they should get a few million from retrieval.

Best of luck xxx

Hi thank you so much for your reply. It's wonderful to hear about you and your wife's success with the egg donor. I hope everything continues to go well with that.

My partner had a hernia op causing obstruction for one teste, then testicular cancer leading to the removal of the other teste. It's not been an easy journey but hopefully with the help of an egg donor we'll get there.

This was the same for us! Proxeed for 3 months and no alcohol made a huge difference!

hey there,

I would definitely recommend Conception Men Fertility Vitamins by EU Natural. I have personally used these vitamins and the effects are amazing. Not only did it improve my sperm count and strength, it also affected my mood greatly. The best part is these vitamins are 100% natural and you can easily get a bottle on Amazon or Ebay or Walmart.
