I need some advice on alcohol/next FET

hello all,

so I need some advice. Today is Thursday and I am on day 1 of my natural FET cycle. On Saturday my partner and I went round to our neighbours for dinner. I brought a bottle of Prosecco for us to share as a ‘last hurrah’ before the new cycle starts. Anyway, we finished the bottle and I was tipsy and my neighbour offered to make a cocktail instead of eating dessert. Which I stupidly agreed to. I ended up throwing up for 24 hours. It was awful.

my question is, will this affect our chances of this FET being successful?! I’m usually a ‘one glass of wine a week’ kind of girl, so the weekend was very out of character for me.

my fertility nurse, consultant and acupuncturist are all not concerned, but my partner is.

Should we go ahead with this month or delay by another cycle?

Thanks in advance 🤍

I would go ahead. It sounds like you brought most of it back up anyway! It shpould not affect anything! Good luck 🤞

Oh love, don't worry - it won't affect anything. We put so much pressure on ourselves to make everything perfect.

I was so good with my first few transfers and as time wore on and they didn't work, I took less and less care (which seems counter-intuitive I know) but I got so fed up.

Before my 6th transfer I had a glass of wine the night before transfer - and our 6th worked.

I really doubt it would make any difference. It's a FET for a start so the embryo is made already so alcohol etc affecting egg and sperm isn't an issue (not that I think I one-off would have had any effect anyway). And if things like that really could affect implantation I suspect it would have prevented around half of all pregnancies 😀 Similar to others, I was quite restrictive with early transfers and tried to rest, and they ended early anyway, whereas by the time I did a FET I had given up a bit and was just trying to live my life (which definitely included wine) - that worked.

It won’t have any affect, especially as it’s a FET and your embryo is already made. I had a tequila and cocktail fest a few weeks before our only successful transfer (it was during Covid and I didn’t realise the clinic was going to unexpectedly reopen for my FET and the bars reopened for a week or so just before 🫣) I was very drunk. I honestly think the not having time to stress and over prep before hand did me the world of good letting my hair down. A lot of babies are conceived after or during a drunken night anyways 😂Well done for your last ‘hurrah’ fingers and toes crossed that will be you for 9 months now ☺️🤞🏽 don’t give it a second thought xx
