IVF 2ww - Bleeding

Hi ladies 🙂

Thought I’d reach out on here for some support, advice and/or experiences. I had a FET last week - making me 9DP5DT. It was a blastocyst day 5 transfer. So I am on day 9 of 2ww! I started bleeding 2 days ago - it is now Friday. It was brown spotting to start with - barely there but now is more pale pink and sometimes a bit of red. It is more frequent now, but definitely not getting heavier so far. I have had mild on/off cramping and lower back pain, similar to period, so I expect my bleeding to get heavier, but it has not. Thank God! I am confused as to what is going on! 🫣

Has anyone had this experience? I am not testing until next week as I’d like to try and stick to what the nurse has said and wait until Day 14.

Any similar experiences? X

oh wow I am 9dp fresh transfer! I’ve had similar if not the same symptoms as yourself. I had some brown spotting yesterday but it was not much at all so I’m not sure what that is. I have sore breasts and today I am so tired but that might be end of week tiredness. I wish you all the luck!! My test date is 7th May. I’m so scared to test. I’ve been told that the symptoms I’m experiencing may be from the cyclogest so don’t know what to think.

Awww! Hello 🙂 it’s actually so nice to be on this forum I was reading messages all week but never posted until today!

Yep day 9 for me also. I started brown spotting Wednesday (day 7), on/off and VERY light pink if not brown - now I am still bleeding after 2 days but I spoke to the nurse this morning who said as long as it doesn’t get heavy, I don’t need to worry! Which thank God so far it hasn’t. I am not sure tbh I think it may be my period trying to break through as Cyclogest apparently can kind of prevent it from what another nurse said… I am definitely tired also and have back pain today all day and cramping, but the sore breasts for me subsided a few days ago.

It’s quite stressful isn’t it as we all have different symptoms and don’t know what’s going on. My test date is May 8th. Had your bleeding been still spotting? Brown spotting or light pink is a good sign ❤️

I only posted today too for the first time! But like you I’ve been reading through others experiences. Sometimes I tell myself I shouldn’t because it gives me a little anxiety, other times it’s reassuring so here I am still reading through lol. My brown spotting was yesterday and it’s all stopped now. It was so light, only noticeable on the tissue paper a few times. Nothing at all since. I definitely have lots of potential symptoms but definitely don’t want to raise my hopes. I have had 3 failed IUI but this is my first IVF. I hope we get lucky together x

Oh sounds really good for you!!! If you just had some spotting and nothing since then sounds like might be implantation spotting! Thing is it’s quite tricky bc some women don’t even have any bleeding, some have a little like you, and some have it for up to 3 days. My friend had it similar to me and now she has a baby girl of 7 months! So you just never know. We had a fresh transfer too it was a 4AB grading so quite healthy! Yeah fingers crossed for both of us! But I don’t like getting my hopes up either so I am just trying to accept it could or could not be positive!

I had spotting pink and red at day 6 and 8 after transfer. It stopped after those two episodes and all was ok at the 7 week scan. The nurse saw little haematoma around the pregnancy and said it’s just where the embryo attaches and this can cause spotting. Good luck 🍀🍀 hope everything goes smoothly xx

Hi I am so happy for you! Congratulations on the pregnancy 🙂 so I have been spotting since Wednesday - it is happened nearly every time I go toilet but it is not heavy. I hope you all don’t mind but I’m going to attach some pics of my bleeding - I know it’s TMI. I am still bleeding and having period like pains but it’s tolerable. I’m just really hoping I still have a change but not feeling very positive tbh! Xx

Yes, mine was similar. I wore a pad because it was between toilet breaks too. I know how terrifying it is but try and stay positive 🍀🍀

It is so terrifying, I am trying to switch off and be positive but it’s been so difficult since the bleeding started. Did you have frequent bleeding in those 2 days? My concern is that I am bleeding every time I go bathroom. It either comes out in my urine stream as pinkish blood or when I wipe or both. Sometimes there are red little bits too! Sorry TMI

God willing all is ok! Think I’ll just do a pregnancy test by Sunday. I don’t think I can wait much longer I’d rather just know if it’s good or bad! X

The bleeding doesn’t really tell you much without doing a test I’m afraid, I’ve had bleeding with negatives and upped progesterone (this normally stops your period so if you have bleeding with a negative then it can be a sign you need more next time), I’ve had bleeding with positives and it be an early miscarriage/chemical and I’ve also had bleeding with a positive that was my little boy. You can also get some bleeding from the pessaries causing irritation no matter the outcome of the test. Ive always tested by day 8 though to know what’s happening as that’s helpful to me but I know it isn’t the way for everyone so I guess what I’m saying is without a test there is just no way of knowing I’m afraid but it defo isn’t always a period in my experience 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽 xx

Hi it’s very hard for me to think it’s not a period after this morning as I had a bit more blood - I wouldn’t say heavy but the blood was quite red. I don’t know if this is due to being asleep for 7 hours as the blood accumulates and will be pink on top of pink on top on pink etc… bc so far I’ve had pink bleeding and not much of red apart from some bits in here and there.. very hard to stay positive at this point but I will try! I was on Cyclogest 400mg rectally - was it same for you? Xx

Yeah I was on cyclogest 200mg twice a day (vaginally) and I have added lubion and now don’t bleed before test day. With my little boy though it was a hematoma so no amount of progesterone would have made any difference. If you are taking rectally it’s not likely irritation. If you don’t want to test all you can do is wait and see I can understand why the bleeding makes you loose hope but there is just so many people who get ot, especially with IVF, and it’s not always a period xx

So I am bleeding today like I would on a period as in it’s quite dark red and a bit heavy. Surely game over right… when I had my FET last week Wednesday the doctor had issues getting the speculum in and had to put it in at a different after trying multiple times.. I went to empty my bladder a bit to try and help and saw some blood (not a lot) which she then told me was normal as she was having trouble putting it in.. hubs thinks maybe that could cause the bleeding but surely not as the bleeding started a week since procedure.. I definitely think this is a period!.. you’re right there are many reasons one could bleed but when it’s period like blood color and heavier then implantation then surely it is most likely that? X

I had spotting then mild flow for 2 days with cramping at 7dp5dt. I thought I was out as the pain was quite intense but I tested at 9dpt and it was a strong bfp. He is now eating his breakfast! Good luck x

Aww that’s lovely!!! Late congratulations but congratulations 🎉 when you say mild flow how much blood are we talking? I wore a pad yesterday to trial it out so I could see how much blood it actually is. I attached pic below so sorry if it’s tmi!!! Xx

It was around that much if not a bit more. Have you switched to pessaries rectally as the irritation from them can cause bleeding too x

I am on Cyclogest 400mg rectally.. it does say the pessaries have side effects of bleeding but I don’t know if the bleeding would be like a period x
