Blood on Catheter

hi I’ve had two blastocysts transferred yesterday to me the procedure was pain free and went very smoothly with no bleeding afterwards but when they checked the catheter after the fluid on the screen had a little bit of blood in it everywhere I’ve looked online says this very much decreases chance of implantation 😩 I wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

Hi Lullubelly. I wonder why they say that. Probably just touched the lining.Diane

Hi that happened to me I could see clearly blood in catheter. I was wondering but didn't dare to Google it. I did expierence implantation spotting and cramps for 4 days. Progesterone level was checked to be on safe side by blood test and later on the pregnancy was confirmed by blood test as well. I'm currently 14 dyas after embryo transfer no symptoms at all. So I guess it didn't effect implantation.

Congratulations fingers crossed for your scan in a few weeks 😍 when I asked as they checked that the embryos were gone they said very casually little bit of blood and yea the embryos are gone, I asked is that normal to have a little bit of blood and the doctor said absolutely and then was just happy with how everything had went gave us a pick of the embryos pictures told me dos and donts and sent me on my way 🤷‍♀️ when I googled it mainly went on about how blood was associated with a traumatic or difficult transfer so maybe they talking about much more blood rather than a tiny amount, I guess the catheter could have drew a little bit of blood as they removed the catheter 🤞🏻 and my transfer was very straight forward and I had no bleeding after so it can’t have disturbed the lining, it’s just some of the research shows blood in the catheter can kill the embryos or cause them to be displayed if it was from the lining I’ve stopped googling now as then I found some research saying microscopic or macroscopic blood in catheter makes absolutely no difference at all, and I suppose my was microscopic as I had to remind myself the liquid on the tray is zoomed in by some 1000s of magnification to check the embryos are gone

I had this happen too and also googled, worried about it affecting the transfer, but that was actually the only one that ended in success and I’m now 35 weeks with a healthy baby due soon, fingers crossed for you too, good luck xx
