FET … and need advice please help!

I’m looking for further guidance, does anyone know how long you take meds for in preparation for a FET?

I have all the meds required for stimulation prior to egg retrieval… But, my clinic hasn’t informed me how long I’ll be taking medication after that to prepare my FET.

Would I be required to take oestrogen and progesterone medication prior to FET?

How long would do I take this for??

If anyone has had a FET and has any advice that would be really helpful 😀

Hi, depends. I can only speak for short hrt medicated cycle. I started estrogen second day of my period then progesterone 3 days before my day 3 transfer (fet) which worked out around 10 days after starting estrogen. Progesterone needs to be in sync with the transfer and lining has to be good. Estrogen will help keep your ovaries quiet so it doesn't interfere with the transfer. Progesterone and estrogen continues after transfer including any luteal support ie clexane etc.

I hope this helps.

Londonlady2024 Thanks, that's really helpful. My clinic hasn't said, so I ended up coming here to seek advice.

Hope your transfer was successful 😀

As Londonlady says it depends on what protocol your clinic opts for. I did a short medicated cycle for my FET. I began oestrogen on day 1 of my period. I had a monitoring scan on Day 10 to check my lining and see that my ovaries were nice and quiet. They scanned again a couple of days' later and when they were happy with my lining I then started progesterone 5 days before my day 5 transfer.

Yes and no. I got a BFP but had an early miscarriage a week later. This wasn't related to the FET though so I have every confidence it could work again :)

are you doing a freeze all egg collection? Has that been decided already? If so they will tell you about the FET after that, they may want you to have a break of at least a month in between. As the ladies have said there are a few types of FETs you can do a fully natural with no meds, a short protocol that follows your cycle with meds (the estrogen and progesterone you mentioned and sometimes a trigger shot) and a long down regulated protocol where the clinic shut down your cycle and take over it (with something like porostrap or burselin) and again it will be progesterone and eostrogen to start you back up and build up your lining etc. what one you do will depend on your clinic and also your circumstances around your own cycle and if you have any other conditions such as endo etc. Hope that helps and good luck for egg collection. X
