This morning I noticed some pinkish spots when wiping myself. Went to work, and found some bright red blood on my pad. It continued until now. Small spots of bright red blood on pad, pink spots when wiping.
I called the clinic at 9am and left a voicemail to be called back, but got no call.
I also called EPU and they eventually called me back but said that’s too early for any reassurance scan, that I have to wait a week and repeat a test and call them back, or go to A&E if bleed is heavy to fill a pad in 30 mins.
I informed them that I’m on estrogen, Lubion and progesterone pessaries (back passage) twice a day so I would probably never fully bleed in any case, and they said it does not matter and to follow their instructions.
Test was still very positive this morning.
Any advice or reassuring experiences to share with me?

hi Terry I’m very sorry that you’re going through this, blood does not always mean a bad outcome. It could be a hematoma and could sort itself out. It appears bleeding in early pregnancy is more common on IVF too. I think around 6 weeks is when they can detect heartbeat on the scan. Hopefully it will all turn out well for you , try to stay calm and strong xx sending you a big hug and all the best of luck xx
I hope you are ok. It’s so distressing. I had this around the same time accompanied by some cramping. It didn’t last and all was ok so I’m hoping it’s the same for. Bleeding is very common especially with IVF pregnancies. Sending lots of love and fingers crossed for a positive outcome on your HCG. Xx
morning, so sorry you are going through this. I just want to reassure you that bleeding does always mean the end (I was past my self). I had bleeding/spotting at 6.5 weeks and 10 weeks and my little boy is turning two next month. I hope everything is going to be ok for you too xx
Oh hun hope you are ok as ok can be. I had hematoma bleed at 7 weeks. It was alot of blood for 3 days. If that’s what it is, it will sort itself out. The wait is awful to get to the clinic etc and to see blood is quite scary but try and be positive until you know for sure. Best of luck I am thinking of you
hi Terry, I know it can be super scary but bleeding in first trimester is really common especially for ivf patients (50%).
I had spotting every day and heavy bleeding on some days between 5-8 weeks. It was very scary but everything was ok and it was just a hematoma (bruising in the womb). I had to wait till 6+3 to see heartbeat on the scan - and that was after a night of heavy bleeding.
The progesterone won’t stop you bleeding, necessarily, it just stops your period from coming (which pregnancy also will do). If it does get heavy enough to fill a pad, like they said to go back to them in case of a tiny chance of ectopic.
There’s always chance of miscarriage at this point but try and stay positive as bleeding does not necessarily mean that by any means!
Hi! I am really sorry you are going through this, it is terrifying when it happens! I had a large bleed at 5w3d and was convinced it was all over. Turned out to be a large subchorionic hematoma. I was advised by my clinic to continue the medication, take it easy (no walking or standing up for over 20 minutes) and work from home if possible. They also told me to stop the baby aspirin, which I was on as it makes the bleeding worse. The hematoma resolved itself by the 12 week scan. My clinic and the EPU wouldn't see me until the week after the bleed so I paid for a private scan. It gave us answers and peace of mind. Very best of luck!
