High Progesterone 5 days post FET

Hello everyone

Would appreciate, thoughts, opinions, advice or guidance especially if you have been in a similar situation.

I had a blood test today and my progesterone is at 300nmol, 6 days post 3 day embryo transfer. This seems maybe quite high to me! I’ve never been tested post previous ivf transfers.

My clinic in Cyprus said I can’t lower the dose now, they say you can’t change the dose for 10 days….does anyone know if this true/correct- have found limited research on this.

also has anyone else had Progesterone at 300!!???

Grateful in advance for any thoughts.xxx

I’ve never heard about not being able to change dose but I’ve also been told that there’s never too much progesterone because they body will use what it needs to and ‘discard’ the rest, so I would try not to worry too much (easier said than done!). Personally I think higher is better than lower at this stage! Good luck to you xx

Thank you so much for replying annd for your thoughts. Yes I’d never heard about not being able to change dose either. I am so tempted to reduce a bit but my partner says stick to what the clinic says so I am going to listen to him on this occasion. So much invested in this and coming to the end of the line age wise in terms of using my own eggs so, just don’t want anything to jeopardize our chance of a 🌈.

Thank you again. Xxx

You’re welcome! Absolutely, I always relinquish all trust into the clinic and just do what they say…I’ll always ask questions of course and make suggestions but ultimately go with their advice xx good luck x

It’s probably the best way isn’t it, just remember and trust that they are experts. I think because of the trauma I’ve accounted along the way, it’s hard for me not to anticipate something going wrong but I’m definitely doing better this cycle, combination of my trauma counsellor and a frozen transfer instead of a fresh has made a big difference emotionally and. I am thankful for that!

Thanks again for your message and kindness.xxx

It’s a hard process when you’ve had a lot of knockbacks, I know this for sure. Glad to hear you’re doing better. We really do just have to focus on a day at a time and some days are better than others x

I think it’s probably because a drop in progesterone can signal to your body an embryo hasn’t implanted and bring on a period or some bleeding at this stage so now you are best to carry on with that dose until test day (especially if it’s been a down reg FET) then see what happens. I don’t think progesterone can be ‘too high’ I think your body just uses what it needs, we do t even get ours tested during the 2WW. Good luck for test day 🤗

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it.

I never thought of it that way and that makes sense, probably going down in anyway shape or form now my confuse my body as you say!!!

I’ve consoled myself with spreading the doses out today instead of taking both the injection and pessary all at the same time in the Morning.

No I’d never had mine tested at transfer day never mind 2ww wait for My 3 cycles at home in the UK. I did the blood test yesterday privately thinking it would be good know what my progesterone level does post transfer if anything wanting to catch it if was too low!!

Thank you for the luck, preying and hoping it is finally our time. 🙏🌈❤️

mine was like 157 on day of transfer so I imagine it got even higher afterwards as my transfer was successful. So I wouldn’t worry about it, much better to be v high than too low. Good luck!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it’s good to see others were at least in the 100s ! I am going to do exactly that and not worry. This is my first frozen transfer and it was a natural transfer and it’s been much less stressful and calmer than previous fresh transfers and I’m going to keep that calm and not let this interfere!

so thankful to have this space and such lovely women to share and find perspective with. ❤️❤️❤️

I was told that with natural or modified natural (which is what I had) that progesterone results can be a lot higher due to a peak in our natural progesterone. I think it’s only a wee bit more of a concern if it’s a medicated FET. But most people you see on forums had medicated FETs so their progesterone levels look a lot lower.

Yes, I guess I must remember, all the natural progesterone that would be there from ovulating, in hindsight I wish I questioned the dosage as 2 lubions was probably excessive but, as everyone has said higher is probably less of a worry than lower.

Keeping everything crossed now.xxx

I was on 3 pessaries and a Lubion a day. My transfer worked and I’m now 35 weeks. So will keep everything crossed for the same result for you 🤞🏼🤞🏼
