Hi,

I have been taking 600mg of COQ-10 daily for IVF. I was just wondering when people stop taking them? After egg collection?

Thank you

Should maybe check this out with your clinic and see what advice they give you

Good luck with your treatment

Thank you but unfortunately my clinic do not give advice on vitamins. I started taking them due to research and other people’s experience.

I think the advice is to stop taking it after egg collection as it's mainly for egg quality. Apparently I didn't get the memo about stopping it though (my clinics never advised on vits either, save for the standard advice about folic acid and vit D) and I carried on during my last pregnancy and by the time I looked into, most things I read said stop taking it around the time of transfer, or even a little before as I think it's one of those not confirmed safe in pregnancy ones, but then that's a huge amount of stuff as very little gets tested for pregnancy, understandably. And I believe it was just not confirmed safe, rather than confirmed harmful. I found some things saying it could actually be beneficial, and I also read it's good for lots of other things which could help fertility. Anyway, having turned myself into a petri dish accidentally, it didn't do any harm, but maybe ask your GP is the clinic won't help, or try and do your own research, which I think will mainly suggest stopping before transfer, at least taking it at high doses.

I’m still taking CQ10 and my clinic has no issues. I read it can help the embryo with energy to implant.

I was told by my clinic to stop after egg collection. You can then move to something like Pregnacare in prep for transfer and onwards. Good luck x

I was told by my clinic that they didn't recommend coq10 as many people kept taking it after egg collection and it could hinder implantation, and they did not really see any improvement on egg quality so just didn't recommend it at all. They didn't say I couldn't take it, but we're not keen and did say if I decide to take it I must stop it just before egg collection and not keep taking it after. I didn't bother in the end.

My clinic told me to take it but have never mentioned stopping it. I’ve been taking it for around a year now.

My clinic have advised taking it throughout pregnancy. It can apparently help reduce miscarriage risk.

I kept taking Coq10 until a few months after delivery. My OB had no issues with it and it’s also good for the heart and for my hypertension. Best of luck to you.
