When to stop DHEA??

Hi everyone,

I have been taking DHEA to see if it improves my egg quality etc but when do I stop taking it? When I start my meds or after egg collection. Due to start 2nd round of ICIS at the end of April. Thanks xxx

Hi Button-123. DHEA is usually taken for 2 months before starting an IVF cycle.  I would check with your consultant to check whether you should keep taking it up until you go for egg collection. I must add that I have heard some successes recently after taking the drug.  Good luck!  Diane

Great to have a cycle buddy Kc21 😀 Yes hoping we can both do this and at least we know what to expect this time. I am doing the usual healthy eating, exercising, de-caff tea etc. I take pregnare vitamin, Royal jelly and a few others. Last time I did Acupunture but I am not going to bother this time. I am trying to stay positive as this is my last go trying with my eggs, if this fails we are going to try donor eggs xxx

Fingers crossed xx r u getting the scratch ... i can't have it as I'm nhs  ! Last fresh go for nhs for me but it's gonna be second time lucky for us both xxx

I asked about the scratch at my follow up, but she told me implantation wasn't an issue at the moment it was my egg quality that was rubbish. Hence taking the dhea to see if it helps and if it doesn't I am happy to use DE. This is also our last NHS go before we start self funding X

I suppose I'm the same lots of eggs buy I think they triggered too early so lots were immature. However my argument is how do they know implantation isn't a factor ? I want to see of i can pay somewhere else to have done if I can !

in reply to kc21

I had to stim for 13 days on 450 menopur just to get my two ha ha. Most private clinics will do the scratch and my consultant said I could get it done privately. If we end up using donor eggs will defo have it then x

im gonna try and find one if I can - just emailed one x they have halved my medication to get me to try and stimm longer and then up it at the end - having a combination of gonal f and menopur - please let this work !!

Hi Ladies

Just wanted to jump in here regarding the scratch, hope you dont mind! I spoke to an IVF consultant the other day (not my consultant but just an adhoc chat), asked what his thoughts are on the scratch as Im keen to try everything/anything. He said that there has been some good studies recently with good outcomes and although there was still a lot of research going on that he would personally recommend it from what he has seen. My NHS hospital also doesnt offer it so having it done privately, costing me £225. May or may not work but though it was worth the money whilst I was having NHS treatment.

Good luck in your journeys!x

in reply to Cinderella5

Thanks for that Cinderella5 and that's great you have decided to have it done and fingers crossed it works for you. I am not having it this time but if I get to third go using donor eggs I will defo have it.

Good Luck xxxxxxxxxx

Fingers crossed. I wish they where changing something in my protocol think I would feel more hopeful. As they are doing the exact same as last time due to low egg reserve, low amh and poor response to the stimms just feel like its going to be the same outcome x

Did you find it made a difference? X

7 follicles instead of the previous rounds of 1 or 2!  So yes a huge difference.  I did have a few side effects, but not badly.

in reply to Filmgirl101

Oooo that's good to hear. Last time I only got two eggs so anything on that would be amazing. I haven't noticed any side effects yet either X
