How long does IVF funding take to come through?

We have recently been told that our consultant is applying for funding in order for us to start IVF. Does anyone have a rough idea of how long this can take? We are so eager to begin our journey. The unknown makes it hard to wait.

Hi Lilacfi! Waiting lists and times and even the order in which they do things are so different all around the UK, but for us it was pretty much immediately after they checked that we qualified (BMI, CO2 tests, etc.). The actual treatment didn't start for a couple more months but we decided on protocol and all that a few weeks after we were approved.

It will depend on what CCG approves your funding. For my husband and I it was about a month roughly to get the forms submitted by our GP and get confirmation of funding back.

Hi. Lilach. CCGs vary so much, but it can take up to 18 weeks, then you can get cracking with the cycle. Good luck. Diane

As others have said it varies lots! Ours took about six weeks to come back. Hopefully it comes back quickly so you can get started, good luck!
