This is my first post in awhile.... since I I've had two IVFS on the NHS which both sadly ended in a BFN. I didn't have any frozen embryos either so I am now looking at options going privately. My clinic said that they would recommend for my next IVF that I have a hysteroscopy first as both of my previous embryo transfers did not go smoothly and they had trouble inserting and guiding the catheter both times. They said during the hysteroscopy they would also give me an endometrial scratch at the same time. This is bearing in mind I decide to stay with the same clinic and bearing in mind we even decide to go private and pay for the ivf.
I was just wondering if anyone else on here has had a hysteroscopy and what your experience was? I'd also be curious to know if people also changed clinics after previous failed ivf cycles on the NHS or decided to stay with their original clinic?
It's so horrible so many of us have to go through this. I love reading the positive stories though.... it gives me hope!

I'm having a hysteroscopy at the end of July to see if there is a polyp that was spotted in my first round of IVF. This is through the NHS. When I was researching it, I found one website that said they would recommend that everyone has a hysteroscopy prior to IVF. X
I'm having a hysteroscopy & endometrial biopsy next month to see if there's something stopping embryos from implanting after our 3 failed cycles and before we go ahead with our donor egg cycle. I had a hysteroscopy 3 years ago after fibroid removal to see if everything had healed properly. It didn't hurt at all but it kind of felt like I had a rat scratching around inside me!! The doc made me watch everything on the screen, it was gross but fascinating seeing inside!! I hope that yours goes smoothly & you have a good experience like me.
Had an endometrial scratch last year too, again it didn't really hurt much, maybe just for a second or two. Take painkillers before just in case and good luck, I hope all is ok xxx
I had a hysteroscopy and biopsy done about 2 years ago- mine was done because I had started cramping and bleeding between my periods and a scan had indicated a fibroid/polyp- which consultant was planning to remove- nothing was there at the operation! But biopsy was done to rule cancer out as bleeding between cycles can be a sign of cancer- very rare mine was all clear. My cycle issues, pain and infertility caused by endometriosis ( found and treated this month via laparoscopy). My hysteroscopy was done under general anesthesia but I'm not sure if all are- your consultant will have discussed that with you during signing the consent form. Unlike my laparoscopy I was back to normal within a few days after my hysteroscopy- maybe because they didn't do anything- just looked into my uterus found nothing abnormal and took a biopsy to rule cancer out.
