Sex after failed FET

Sorry, this might be a really personal question but I’d like answers and my consultation isn’t until 13th.

Our FET failed end Oct. We tested negative on 31st. Period came 3 days later and finished yesterday.

We had sex for the first time in approx 6 weeks as we were told to abstain by our clinic. It felt so sore and tight followed by a bit of spotting. Bright pink blood on wiping after a wee.

Is this something that’s common? Do the meds cause this? Anybody else experience similar?

I’m so worried that this journey is already having such an impact, I don’t want it affecting our time together too, for the limited time that we’re allowed 😒

Sorry to hear about your failed FET and now being faced with this - it’s such a cruel journey. Did you use progesterone pessaries? I think they really agitate things, I noticed when I put my last pessary in before my BFN there was spotting on the applicator and it was a bit sore. Hopefully you’ll feel better in a week or so. Well done though, I can’t face sex yet 😅 my poor husband xxx

I did use progesterone pessaries! I stopped them last week though, I would have thought I’d be back to normal by now but perhaps you’re right, it would make sense. It’s just so tough isn’t it, as if it’s not bad enough, it then goes and affects your sex life too! So sorry about your BFN too, I hope you’re okay and have support around you. I’m sure your husband understands. I cried after we did it, I just felt overwhelmed and grateful at how patient he is but sad that it was painful. It all just feels so unfair xxx

It can be very common - the hormone levels in your body can impact sensitivity (and tightness). I’ve had rounds where it’s been really sore and others not, within a month it’s usually back to normal.

Hi Comfortingsoul , hope you are doing OK after the BFN. Coming out of my last FET I felt quite irritated. I wasn't sure but I thought it was just the pessaries. I had my period and it all calmed down and I felt fine after a couple of days. We then had sex a few days later and I also felt it was quite sore and spotted afterwards, and I had alot of spotting before my last period too. I dont feel anything else indicating an infection so I think it must just be irritation. All these drugs and poking about must be so hard on our bodies 😞

Hi Comforting soul. Well, nothing you can do about what happened, but try and accept your specialists advice. You can enjoy yourselves other ways, bless you. Diane
