Wondering if anyone has had sharp endo pain or pelvic spasms after an embryo transfer and still had a BFP?
I sometimes get sharp pelvic pain before a bowel movement for a few seconds and unfortunately it happened two days after my transfer. So now I’m concerned about whether an embryo could have survived that sort of pain or spasm. I felt it in my uterus/bladder area and it went away straight after I went to the toilet.
I’m on progesterone so I know I should expect period type cramping, but I’m talking about brief sharp pain.
Thank you in advance!

I had really intense sharp pains in the early hours of 3dp5dt FET - they came on very suddenly and woke me up. I thought I was about to have a really bad stomach or that it was a sign that the FET had failed spectacularly and my period was coming on with intensity. It only last 20 mins/half an hour, then gone. I also got a bit of spotting. For some mad reason I tested that evening and got a BFP, and that's now my daughter Having said that, I don't think you can tell much at the early stages and it's mainly the meds, as I had three other BFPs after fresh transfers (which ended in early losses) and didn't get the cramps/pain, and each time I had differnet symptoms varying in intensity, more just I wouldn't necessarily assume the worst, as it could be a good sign.
Thank you for your comment! The thing is that this pain is something I deal with regularly. It always comes right before a bowel movement or gas, but it doesn’t happen every time so I was hoping by some chance I could avoid it during the TWW so that whatever is happening doesn’t prevent implantation. But it’s reassuring to know you had sharp pains very soon after your transfer and it was successful! I guess little embryos can be resilient
Hi nazbear - it’s really difficult to tell what the cramps mean. Hopefully the progesterone will calm things the more you move into the 2ww. I had a crazy endo flare up day of transfer (in my bowel) - and they reassured me that the progesterone will ease endo pains and the pains will have zero influence on implantation, It’s hard not to read into every pain and twinge, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s negatively impacting anything.
Thank you! It’s helpful to know your clinic said the pains won’t have an effect on implantation. I assume inflammation does create a less welcoming environment but I suppose that can be present without pain, and I also believe lots of people with endo pain do get pregnant so it’s all a bit confusing. By the way, I saw on your profile that you switched clinics and protocols and ended up with a higher number of eggs and blastocysts! That’s fab. Wishing you much success for any future transfers.
I know exactly what you mean, but yes so many people with endo/endo pains do conceive spontaneously and with ivf, as hard as it is, try and think positively. So many hopeful stories on here too ❤️
Thank you so much, still not got our little miracle, but I feel like we are one little step closer. So here’s hoping. Wishing you all the luck xx
The thing is I feel the pain at the front of my lower pelvis. It doesn’t feel like a cramp or pain in the back, if that makes sense, but it happens when I have a number two coming. Is that the same for you? Is it sharp?
Really keen to hear how your journey is going. I’m 4 days post transfer and have been experiencing spasms as well. I’m sure it could be the progesterone or the procedure or implantation cramping. Hard not to dig through the internet looking for answers 😬
I got a BFP so the really sharp spasms didn’t seem to have a negative impact on implantation. Thankfully I haven’t had those spasms since I became pregnant. As mine happen when I have a bowel movement I’m very strict about my fibre intake, hydration and I take a laxative every day. Hope you get a BFP too!
