Awful pain day after embryo transfer

Hello, looking for some advice. Had 3 day embryo transfer yesterday at 11.30am. Everything went like clockwork and I felt fine afterwards. That was until about an hour and a half ago when I started feeling really sharp pains. I’ve been doubled over and crying since. I just called the ward at the hospital (the ivf clinic is closed at weekends) and they said to take paracetamol and call back in a few hours if it doesn’t improve. Does anyone know what might be going on? The pain is awful and pretty constant. Feeling pretty worried and like this isn’t a good sign.

Bless you. That does not sound nice at all. Hope it has eased? Wouldn’t thought at this early stage that there shud be anything to worry about. Maybe more this reacting to you swollen follicles ?? Am only guessing n don’t know for sure but hopefully it eases and ur clinic can advise you. Take good care xx

Try drinking lots of water as ohss can still kick in after egg collection/transfer. It might be a combination of the meds and recovering from collection. Definitely call them back if you are still suffering and don’t be scared to call the clinic out of hours emergency number!

Hi how are you feeling now? 3days after EC I was in constant pain so it could be that as I don’t think transfer should cause that sort of pain. Hope it eases. Stay positive xx

Thanks for the kind messages. After I spoke to the ward I took paracetamol and had a nap and it eased off slightly, but I’ve been getting worse since. From what I’ve read it sounds like OHSS but I only had 8 eggs collected so not sure that it could be? Can’t stand up straight with the pain and keep getting sharp shooting pains which take my breath away. Will call hospital again tomorrow if it hasn’t improved.

I know women who feel the pain after the retrieval. The doctor is right take a pain killer. You will be fine. However, if it persists do let the doctor know. Other than that bed rest is really important after a retrieval. Also, dont work too much either. Good luck to you. Sending baby dust your way.
