Yesterday we had our last embryo transfer. Yesterday I felt totally fine. Today I woke up with 38C temperature. Got a paracetamol now.
The same thing happened in my previous transfers as well. We don't know why. The clinic doesn't investigate anything, they just told me that I have a virus each time. How come virus comes with the embryo and goes away with the period... that is of course just a mad idea of the lazy clinic. It is not virus we are 100% sure.
We really wish that this time our embryo implants. It is the last one we have.
Did anyone had high fever after the transfer and ended up with successful pregnancy?

I haven’t had a fever after any of my transfers, but just wanted to say that I’m keeping my fingers tightly crossed for your little embaby. Come on little one, make yourself at home!!!
May just be a reaction to the stress - meds etc during your treatment Hope you feel better soon Take it easy for a day or two and be sure to drink plenty of fluids
Could just be a reaction to the stress. But your clinic shouldn't just rule it out as a virus. Anyway, hope this time it works for you. Lots and lots of positivity and baby dust sent. xxx
Potentially sensitive.. so please feel free to skip this comment if you want, but wanted to answer as you asked! I did not have a fever after our fresh transfer in 2020 (for this one I was given antibiotic cream for vaginal area 6 days around transfer) ..but I did have a fever and felt feverish after our FET end of 2023. No idea if it was the lack of that cream around transfer. I did not really question it. Just assumed it was normal perhaps not to have that cream with a FET. It only lasted one day. I rested and kept hydrated. I had mild cramps evening of transfer and it was that same evening I had a fever. It had gone the next day and I felt ok. No idea what happened. But thought perhaps just a reaction to the catheter transfer perhaps 🤔 as it was a foreign body, but was over so quickly.. or just randomly unlucky as there was so much going around at the time anyway.
We had a positive pregnancy test. But when we got to viability scan at 7 weeks, our little bean had stopped developing around week 5-6, so was called a biochemical pregnancy.
I suppose we will never know for certain, it could be that this embryo was not viable with life to start with and perhaps had a genetic factor as to why.. I feel this is more likely.. and I do not think it was the fever at all! (We did not have our embryos tested. )
so please - this might not be the case for you, as because it was more the developing that did not work - makes me think genetically!! My point being, the embryo implanted despite the fever! Keep the hope!! 🧡
I just wanted to say I wish you all the best and hope you recover quickly!! Look after yourself and I will have everything crossed for you and your little embaby!!
Hope the 2 week wait goes fast for you!
If we were ever to have any further treatment however, I will question the need for an antibiotic cream next time - and see what our clinic says. It might not have mattered or made a difference in our case, but I want to ask and I think I will ask to have it next time just to be certain.
I was a bit sick before the transfer and after the transfer I was still unwell. They did a blood test to rule out any issues and my specialist was still happy to go ahead with the transfer. The only other symptom I had was vomiting a week after the transfer. I ate the same food before with no issues. I am now sitting with our 3.5 month old baby from that transfer. Baby dust to you and I hope your little embryo sticks 💓
hello, on my most recent frozen transfer last year I had a fever on the evening of embryo transfer, I hadn’t had this before. I was so worried it hadn’t worked because of it, I took paracetamol to bring it down. I don’t think it was a virus at all, I think it was an immune reaction to the embryo implanting but luckily I was on a lot of immune drugs this time round so that helped and my little bean stuck around. I’m now 32 weeks pregnant with that one. If you’ve had a fever each time I would definitely look at having some immune testing done as you may need steroids or similar. But will keep everything crossed that this one takes for you!
Hi, I hope you don’t mind me coming back to this old thread Wishinandahopin . Can I ask what immune drugs you were put on for your successful pregnancy? I had a terrible fever the day after our failed FET. It was completely out the blue and went away the next day. I’m sure it was an immune response to the transfer.
When we did our transfer at the beginning of December, I actually ended up having Covid. The symptoms started the day after and my temperature went up to 38.2. Was successful however I started miscarrying on Tuesday, but I don’t think the miscarriage has anything to do with it.
Wishing you success. Big hugs. Lots of love. Look after yourself ♥️
I had read, anecdotally, of people reporting cold/flu symptoms as pregnancy symptoms. I wouldn’t have believed it until I got my first BFP and my first symptoms were a scratchy throat and general feeling unwell. Sadly, this spontaneous pregnancy was only a chemical.
Fast forward a few years and after my double embryo transfer I got super sick! I lost my voice and my throat felt like I had a cactus shoved down it. I spent all of Christmas and new years (transferred in the 23rd of dec) taking paracetamol and drinking honey and lemon. I also had a major allergic reaction and ended up in a&e! This was my only successful attempt and resulted in my twins! They say, again anecdotally, that the body will often find something else to fight so as not to fight the embryo 🤷🏻♀️ so don’t give up hope! Rest and lots of paracetamol!!
I can’t remember with my little boy 3 years ago (fresh transfer) but I’ve had this on all 3 of my FET. I’m literally sick a few days after transfer with cold like symptoms. I don’t think it has anything to do with the outcome (one FET implanted but miscarriaged, other two failed to implant) but reaction to all the meds and stress and generally feeling anxious. I literally feel like I’m holding my breath before transfer and I’m hoping it goes ahead (other issues) so maybe I’m so stressed out my body reacts in this way? After my miscarriage I went over everything that happened since my transfer and at one point blamed it on being ill- thought it might be COVID but didn’t test. But tbh the embryo was just slow developing and then I think just didn’t have the energy to keep growing 😔 I hope you feel better and wish you lots of luck with your transfer xxx
Hello! I had two transfer so far and had fever each time! And I NEVER get ill. First transfer was a BFN, second was a BFP but unfortunately we found out it stopped at around 5w5d during our 7w scan. I'm pretty certain the fever was related to the treatment; I read that the immune system can go a bit crazy after taking all the hormones and it's easy to get a fever. What I found strange that each time the fever appeared pretty much within 24h from transfer. The good news here I guess was that whatever caused the fever didn't affect implantation in our second round and the embryo was initially making great progress (Beta was rising real nice to start with). I was definitely freaked out by the repeated fever episodes so I totally get your frustration. I was pretty sure my body was trying to fry those embryos, but turned out the second one wasn't phased by it I'm about to have my third transfer so we will see what happens this time. wishing you all the best!!!!
