Can you please tell me did anyone of you was asked to stop taking cyclogest after the pregnancy test which will be 10 days after ET. This is for the fresh embryo transfer. As I read some articles that says cyclogest should be continued till 8 weeks.this helps to reduce misscarriage. Your inputs will greatly help here.
Thank you all.

Thank you. But NHS is not recommending to continue after 10days. I'm really worried. Their are articles that say their is no correlation that progesterone supplements prevent miscarriage. But still most of the clinics practice till 12weeks. I really don't want to loose just not taking supplements 😭
Hi I’m with NHS clinic, they had advised progesterone was needed until week 12. Perhaps just asked them say it will help you feel less stressed, it might not help but will not harm either xx
I tried bur they said won't recommend after pregnancy test. Theory is body itself produce required progesterone no need of supplements. But you are saying NHS recommended to you. Is this your first fresh ET
I was at an NHS clinic too. My pregnancy is from a frozen transfer but even if one of my fresh transfers had been successful, they'd have had me on cyclogest up until 12 weeks. They say that by then the placenta has taken over hormone production. I would definitely speak to then about it and push for cyclogest to continue
hi yes it was first fresh , didn’t make it as far but those were the instructions by nhs fertility clinic , i had to pay for prescriptions not sure if that’s same everywhere or if it makes any difference, good luck , I hope you can convince them xx
the nhs recommendations (in our area) are to stop after test day with fresh and to 12 weeks with frozen. The my last fresh I did continue past test day but that’s as I have had a lot of early losses and so they wanted to try it. I’m self funding through nhs clinic now so paid extra £300 for that.
Unless they have any reason to think your body wouldn’t produce enough naturally this is the recommendation a for fresh transfer and many many many women are successful with it 🤗 good luck xx
Our fresh transfer was with NHS and they said to keep taking Cyclogest until viability scan at 7 weeks. I had supply for another week, so they said to take it until I was out but then finish. For a frozen transfer I think they advise 12 weeks.
Congratulations on your test, hoping that means good news and I hope you can speak to your clinic about your concerns and that they listen. Wishing you all the best!! 🧡
I can’t comment re a fresh transfer but with my FET I’m on it until 16wks. Perhaps ask them if you can pay for the prescription if they are not willing to give to you. I thought you had to take it until at least your placenta comes into play, may be query this with them? Best wishes x
Hi I had a fresh transfer with the nhs and was advised that if the test was positive to continue taking for 8 weeks to which point your body should be producing enough. If the test was negative then to stop taking on OTD after phoning the clinic and them advising to stop. Hope this helps
But this is surprising why they are not asking me to take . Did they discuss with you earlier. Do you know which protocol you belong to. I think recommendation depends on the protocol.
I’m not sure. I was on the short antagonist protocol. I agree with the above maybe ask the clinic why they aren’t providing it and if you can purchase it if it’s something you feel you should have.
They only asked me to stop meds at a negative pregnancy test. If the test was positive they were very clear to NOT STOP any of the prescribed medicine until week 12. You should speak to them about it as it sounds very unusual.
I was on it until 10 weeks with my NHS clinic, then weaned off between 12 - 14 weeks with my private clinic. It does seem very strange to me to stop it that early! Xx
I think the placenta doesn’t start producing its own progesterone until around 12 weeks, so if you’re on a medicated cycle (fresh or frozen) the cyclogest should definitely be kept up until that point, otherwise your body won’t have any progesterone to keep a pregnancy going. If it was a natural cycle where you ovulated on your own before ET perhaps it’s not needed for as long as the body would be producing progesterone on its own. But if yours is a fresh transfer I guess it’s a medicated cycle? xx
My fresh transfer sadly ended in a chemical but I had an FET (both NHS funded) and they said to stop my progesterone after my BFP - I was really anxious due to the chemical pregnancy and asked to continue it, they said I could but it wouldn't be covered so I paid for it myself! I continued until my viability scan so approx 3-4 more weeks of progesterone and it cost roughly £90, then stopped! All went well and had a lovely pregnancy, best of luck to you x
