6 days to my baseline scan -FET - oestrogen side effects

Hi all I got a bleed on the 12th of October so 5 days ago and started oestrogen on day 3 of the cycle - I am told to take 3 tablets a day .

I am feeling absolutely horrible on them .. nausea , cramps , really low .

My scan is on the 23rd .. time is going by so slow .

I am 26 with pcos just lost my 22 week old baby in utero to fetal anomaly . I had a fresh day 3 transfer which worked the first time i only obtained 5 eggs 3 of which were immature so left with two one that took and one that is a 5 day blast in tje freezer which we will hopefully use for transfer . I am feeling so on edge i dk if its the oestrogen . I am really worried as we have one embryo and worried about it even making it past the thaw process i cannot help but worry😞.

I am 26 with a healthy amh with pcos , was on 112.5 gonal f . Produced only two viable eggs out of 5!? I am just shocked at how bad of a response i got i was actually 25 at the time . Anyone had a similar experience.? . I know they say it just takes one and i was really happy the first pregnancy took but unfortunately god had other plans. Really praying this time it works . But beford anything just praying I even make it to transfer? . Is this feeling of being extremely on edge or anxious normal? Is it the oestrogen or is it an accumulation of my own grieving and anxiety?

I'm so sorry for your loss, that's a terrible thing to have gone through. I can imagine because of that that your emotions and anxiety must be volatile, but the effects of the hormones (especially if you have PCOS) will probably also be responsible/not helping. On the physical side effects, I think bad reactions to oestrogen are very common. Personally I felt horrendous on it for my first FET - constantly nauseous/sick, unbearable headaches and dizziness plus room spins. My nurse said the tablets were 'evil', so I think a lot of women have pretty bad reactions. I'm sensitive to oestrogen anyway and my lining became over thickened/uneven on 3 per day, so my consultant said I could reduce to 1 a day - that plus taking progesterone did really help. But it depends where your lining is I guess, whether that's an option. Hopefully even if you stay on them the progesterone will balance things out a bit, and sometimes the body gets used to the meds too.

Hi Pcosivf. I was so very sorry to hear of the loss of your precious baby. I do hope you had and still have plenty of support. I hope that one of your little ones in the freezer is going to stay and make you the mother (parents) you so want to be. You will never forget the little one who couldn’t stay, but face forward and look towards success. I will be thinking of you. Diane

hi hope you're feeling better, sorry that you're having a tough time on this journey so far, hopefully your heart will mend at your own time, the fact that you're trying again shows how strong you are xx

Sorry about the oestrogen side effects, I think you should call your clinic and ask for advice, see if they can tweak anything for you?. I also started this week and no one warned me about them! but had awful headaches, other ladies in here recommended to drink loads of water, and today I've done that and it has helped me a little bit. Hopefully it will al settle for you soon!, wishing you all the best of luck with your transfer!

So sorry you’re having such a tough time on this rollercoaster of a journey. Everything crossed for you moving forward.

I also had to take oestrogen for my first cycle and I have PCOS to. For me it gave me incredibly bad insomnia, (I felt like I had 3 espressos!) and sleep was incredibly challenging at that time. I thankfully didn't need it on my second cycle but was told they can reduce the number of tablets you take if use a patch to which can reduce side effects, so maybe that could be an option for you to ask the clinic. The very best of luck with it all and hope your symptoms get better soon.
