hello I had a positive pregnancy test yesterday (from euploid frozen embryo transfer by embryo donor) and an initial HCG test with a level of 410 which the nurse said is very good. I am now unclear about whether I need to keep monitoring HCG levels like most of my friends did when they went through ivf in the US. The nurse says it’s up to me and that some women go straight to the scan but I read different things online. I think chances of ectopic pregnancy is low ans according to nurse even if HCG levels does not rise as expected there is nothing we can do about it anyway ? So keen to hear thoughts of whether it’s worth it to do the HCG at least another time ? Is this jsut for peace of mind or is there sth that can be done if levels are not rising as expected ?

is HCG monitoring needed ?
congratulations. Ours was 332 we didn’t have any more hcg checks as they were happy that that was a really good number. Waited for the scan xxx
Congratulations, I'm currently 9 weeks and 6 days pregnant and my hcg level on day 11 after 5 day frozen embryo transfer was 365 they did another one 2 days later and it was 874, they said they didn't need to because it was a really good high number but they did it because the cycle before this one I had problems with my hcg levels and had a silent miscarriage, then I was anxious and curious so I did another one when I was 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant and it was 21,524, you only need to do it if it's for your reassurance to make you feel better but it's definitely not needed
Congratulations 💜 my clinic doesn’t offer HCG tests and I would give my right arm for some right now! I’m sending off for some medichecks ones and having to post and pay etc . I would at least do one more if I were you if it’s available xx
There's a certain amount to be said for a good initial number, but what really matters is the doubling over 2-3 days. You absolutely don't have to monitor your HCG and most women don't, I just have always had this done because I've had early losses and a PUL (and if I hadn't had HCG done on that, I wouldn't have known anything was wrong and got surgery, without which there could have been lasting damage). I don't think there is much they can do to save the pregnancy if the hcg isn't rising normally though, maybe give extra progesterone support in case that's the issue. It's more about monitoring for possible ectopic etc. I also just wanted to know so I was prepared as the meds have always stopped me from passing the pregnancy naturally so it just delayed the inevitable. That all sounds very worrying and doom and gloom, and with your good initial number it's probably very unlikely you'll have problems and you may prefer just to wait for the first scan.
My clinic don’t offer HCG tests at all. They just ask you to do a home pregnancy test and let them know. If it’s positive on OTD then they invite you for a viability scan at 7 weeks. That’s as far as their monitoring goes. If they’re offering it, then there’s no harm 😊 but it’s definitely not “needed” as such. Good luck! 🤞🍀
