Weight gain - Post treatment but prior to FET

Hello everyone, I started my fertility journey in March and was really lucky to have 2 embryo’s frozen, but due to a polyp haven’t yet had my FET.

I was just wondering if anyone had noticed an increase in weight after treatment. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been and even joined the gym (not for cosmetic reasons) but so that I can be in better shape when the FET arrives. Is this normal? I’m taking baby steps (excuse the pun) but it’s scary at times to not see the weight shifting.

Hiya. Totally normal - for me anyway. Put on an unfortunate 1st during treatment - Had unsuccessful outcomes but trying to shift the weight is very hard

Thank you for replying I am almost at a stone too, I think the constant feeling of being stressed doesn't help. Sending you lots of positivity for the future!

I had a failed fresh and now waiting to test tomorrow for my 1st FET... I've put on a stone. I think a combo of things... I ride horses so each time I have egg retrieval or transfer I don't ride for a few days (2 weeks after transfer) so I do a lot less exercise. But I still think a stone is a lot for that when I am mucking out and walking dogs etc?! I am also currently horribly bloated even though I've eaten so healthily today! So not helpful but you are not alone. I am trying to minimize the damage by not comfort eating (hard) and promise myself that I will work hard to sort even through pregnancy (everything crossed that I am!)

Hello there, I'm so sorry to hear about your failed fresh, but sending you so much positivity for FET, we didn't even get to try a fresh transfer but the nurses told me chances can be higher during FET so everything crossed. It seems a lot of people are experiencing the same things if this thread is anything to go by, for me it's similar to you the bloat is so so bad that I can't work out when I weigh myself if it's weight, water retention or air. I probably need to exercise a lot more but then I just get hungrier! We can both try our hardest to sort through pregnancy (hopefully) 🤞

I got BFP yesterday so am now on to the next stage of fear... getting to 12 weeks! My clinic said definitely water retention for some of it so hopefully 'some' of it will go easily. She said to drink lots of water! I am going to start some pregnancy yoga to try and minimize damage! Wishing you luck with your journey!xx

Hi Ladybird! Have you had your thyroid checked lately? The stims in my last round messed up my thyroid really badly and I put on a stone in a month. The nurse suggested it could be that and when they tested it it was really bad. I had to go on levothyroxine and wait months for the levels to go back to normal. Worth a check!

Hello Trendy Dove, I had not even thought about thyroid and we have a history of it in my family, but I have asked my doctor for a blood test to check it just in case, thank you so much! Will update if/when I get results!

Hi Ladybird. Hormones are funny creatures responsible for so much. Hopefully you’ll taking hold of the situation and all will settle. Diane

Hello, I’m experiencing the same, am on our umpteenth round (!!), and have put on coming up to a stone i’d say. I don’t like it at all, I’m active (although not as active as pre-treatment) and eat well. It’s frustrating. I gather it’s pretty normal when going through treatment. Hopefully, we can all be successful and then be delighted at adding on the extra pounds. Best of luck xx

Hello, oh goodness it does seem so common now that I'm reading everyone's replies, I remember the nurses mentioning weight gain in passing but not as something that definitely happens so it's frustrating and it just doesn't seem to move no matter what. I always seem to look bloated or full of water, here's hoping we get to a healthy weight, best of luck to you too! xx
