I've been on fertility treatment on and off for nearly two years and I gained 6kg over the course of the treatment. For me it's been a combination of factors: the hormone fluctuations, having to limit movement during treatment cycles...not to mention comfort eating from all the bad news!
I've managed to lose 4kg since my miscarriage through a combination of strength training and a few changes to my diet, but I've accepted that I'll probably never get back to my old weight while actively on treatment.
I haven't got any concrete advice as all bodies are different, but just wanted to send my virtual support as I know it's hard feeling out of control of your body and what it's doing. All I'd say is try not to focus on the number on the scale and instead think about the positive, healthy behaviours you can do to help your body through this challenging time.
Hi, I also had this issue. After 3 failed cycles spread out within 12 months I had gained around a stone that I only managed to get off by a strict low carb/sugar diet. I was able to get this off within 3 months by being strict but it was the only way! The weight was stubborn!
yes, 4 kilos that I can’t rid of! It’s been a gradual gain for me; I usually put on 2kilos per cycle, and manage to get it off before the next. But the last one included an FET so extended period of medication until the miscarriage 😞now I can’t seem to shed the added weight.. still trying to before the next FET.
i’ve put on weight since starting my fertility journey (ivf and natural), I guess the hormones have put me all out of wack, plus I’m comfort eating through the stressful parts and not consistently exercising , which sucks.
Just keep trying but don’t put too much pressure on yourself to lose the 5 before starting
I gained almost a stone during my last cycle which ended in miscarriage. I really wanted to lose it all before having another cycle but it is super hard to shift. I’m jumping in and having another try and just hoping I can lose it all after x
yes! About 10kg. Mostly due to the prolonged use of steroids during the cycles. I am in a specialised maternity fitness class now and off steroids and It’s coming off very slowly…
