I'm 44 with a low ovarian reserve and multiple fibroids (which thankfully is outside the cavity). My GP referred me for NHS fertility investigations but I was rejected due to CCG criteria. My GP applied for Individual funding request but I was rejected.
I had a consultation with a fertility expert at CRGH who suggested IVF with donor eggs - My consultation was rushed, I sent an email to his secretary 4 weeks ago.....still awaiting a response. My GP recommended Chelsea & Westminster Private Care, Barts Health NHS Trust or Guys & Thomas Private Health Care. I had a consultation at Chelsea & Westminster hospital - the consultation was not rushed. He prescribed Coenzyme Q10 (C0 Q10) 200mg (3 x a day), Omega 3 and Folic acid 400 for 12 weeks to help improve egg quality, I also have to undergo a couple of tests. He will start me on Ovulation Stimulation in 13 weeks... Fingers crossed.

Hi, I’m also 44. My ovarian reserve is ok, but my egg quality is terrible. I started my second IVF cycle this evening. I’ve been on DHEA 25mg for the last month, as well as Genotropin MiniQuick 0.4mg (which is a Growth Hormone). In terms of supplements, I’m on Ubiquinol 200mg twice a day, Folate 400ug once a day, and Vitamin D 1000iu once a day. Wishing you the best of luck x
Hi there… I second that - I believe DHEA made a difference to egg quality for us. I’m 42 and after six stims rounds we finally got our very first euploid embryo after taking DHEA for three months. In addition to this I’ve also been on ubiquinol, megafol, NAC, vitamin D. I found the advice in ‘It Starts With The Egg’ by Rebecca Fett very helpful and in line with what my specialtist prescribed as well. Wishing you all the very best of luck!
after taking Q10 for 4 months, my AMH increased to nearly 1 from 0.6, but not sure about DHEA, start to take it now, any one has experience? Especially over 40s with diminished ovary reserve thanks
hi yes I agree with the above do look into DHEA and also I saw you were prescribed coq10 , ubiquinqol is the raw form of it so the body doesn’t have to break it down to get the the ubiquiniqol. I took 75mg of DHEA daily and 600mg of uniquinqol daily, vitamin D 4000 iu daily. I had extremely low amh of 3. Wish you all the luck
I am in the same age group. Just wanted to say that I'm glad you didn't go with CRGH. The reason that they suggested donor eggs was probably they didn't want to risk dragging down their success rate, the same way they'd push older women to PGS test embryos and they only transfer Day 5 embryos. Their overall success rate is all they care. And I'm not surprised that your consultation was rushed. My experience was super unpleasant. I was even stood up once by the consultant who didn't turn up at our scheduled call. Good luck with your upcoming stimulation. x
I will not recommend CRGH in Harley Street. Transvaginal scan + consultation cost £450. Scan & consultation was done in less 30 minutes whereas my consultation at Chelsea & Westminister lasted 45 minutes. He looked at my test results done under NHS before I arrived, he told me I was perimenopausal (my period is irregular). He mentioned if Ovulation Stimulation does not work, straight to IVF donor eggs. He did not make any false promises & he described using the supplements as pre-treatment.
Is there a difference between PGS and PGT testing L Red? I am with them as you know and the stats I have reference PGT testing and the success rate being much higher for PGT testing. Are you not a fan of PGT testing? I am not at the stage of using any frozen eggs as no partner but seemed with such a higher success rate for PGT that it would be good to do this? But I am not super knowledgeable on it...
